All my chargers have only one usb c port, which is reserved for super fast charging my samsung phone, so I need some USB A charging cables.

True but lots of USB A bases etc still around.

    • Lightning will be ancient history very soon.

You know Apple released an iPhone SE this year? And it sells really well? I don't think lightning is going anywhere: The availability of new, full-price 30-pin cables alone is a testament to how slow port standards are at changing… I mean, even USB C isn't standardized, still.

        • Apple will have to use USB C in Europe or get rid of the charging port by 2024

@StarPlatinum: Hopefully USB C will have defined and understandable data and power standards by then; and I don't think it'll change anything for legacy device LTS.

            • @monky: It is only for new devices from 2024 onward if i recall for europe

          • @StarPlatinum: They'll just use the 'Apple' USB C standard…

            • @jv: So just add it to pile of existing USB C “standards”…

    • +1

Not really. USB-C still seems to basically be in the bleeding edge category to me.
I dont own anything that needs to be plugged into a USB-C port on both ends.
I think that's just thunderbolt and USB 4.
I've got a 10gbit SSD that I just use an A to C cable with because it's guaranteed compatibility even if it's not as fast.
And 10w charging's good enough for a phone, besides my phone fast charges with an A to C cable too so even if it wasn't, it wouldnt matter.

  • Putting the cable measuring aside, I need a cable for my iPhone that currently lives in Australia. I was looking at this Anker one or the Cygnett Armoured Lightning cable. Has anyone tried both and can compare…or have any suggestions of a decent robust longer cable?
