AppleCare and App Store Region

Looking to get AppleCare for my watch. My App Store account is American, so I am being given US prices, presumably the fee to replace a damaged would also be US. But I'm wanting to know if not actually being American will ever cause any issues if I need to use the AppleCare in Australia? Should I look to switch region so I am paying for the local version?

Pricess are below, but it's less about the price and more about wanting to know I'll get the same coverage/have no issues claiming if needed.
AUD $149 for 24 months, or $7.49/month (from memory, hard to confirm with a US account). $119 excess for fix/replacement.
USD $99 for 24 months or $4.99/month. $79 excess for fix/replacement.

US prices don’t actually reflect state tax. This could vary from state to state. I think there are couple of states with no state tax like Delaware, Virginia and Oregon.

    • That may have been why I had a US Apple ID in the first place… can't recall.

Yeah. Buy the local version for your local watch.

Go online and pay through the website, or do it over the phone.

    • I'm trying to do it online, but it is only showing me US options because of the region of my Apple ID.

  • Apple honour international warranties and AppleCare program so it shouldn’t matter.

What could matter is the origin of the device. If it’s a non-Aus model with an issue and they’re able to repair it, then they’ll opt for that, rather than usual straight swap on the spot for a new one.

I don’t think Apple watches are repairable though so shouldn’t be an issue. You can call support or live chat to verify with them directly.
