Low stock for the Sonos Beam Gen 2? Either way, I think that the lowest I've seen it. Good luck to those who are going to price match + use gift cards.

    • +1

      Definitely lowest I've seen

I paid $540 including shipping and I thought that was a bloody good deal

    • +1

Just updating, looks like it's back in stock. When this deal was posted, it was only showing 2 in stock for the Sonos Bean Gen 2 (Black). Hope this helps someone.

  • It's a good deal with free express delivery.
    Also don't forget cashrewards.

    • Code not listed unfortunately, not sure if it would track

      • +1

It's tracked and I just received the confirmation email.

  • I've been using my TVs audio for a few years now. Obviously it's subjective but is the Arc a big enough upgrade or do you need the sub?

    • +8

The Arc is a pretty big upgrade to straight TV audio. If you were going with the Beam I'd say it really really benefits from the sub, but I think the Arc does okay by itself (the sub is just gravy). I'm lucky enough to have both the Arc, Sub 3, and Beam, so have tried all alongside each other.

    • +1

Agreed but if I were you I'd get the beam gen 2 and the mini sub 2 instead of just the arc on its own.

      • Thank you both!

  • Just bought the Sony HTX8500 on special for $399, should I cancel and get the Beam instead? Is it that much better? Lots of upvotes for Sonos on Ozbargain.

The way humans perceive sound/music is too personal. Hear out Sonos first before jumping the ship!

  • A person with outdated knowledge here, is there any improvement for replacing current Yamaha setup with amp + ns-f51 + subwoofer?

    • +3

From a stereo audio perspective it is a downgrade. Yamaha is a class AB amp vs class D for Sonos. But Sonos might be better with Dolby atmos etc. also Sonos is more aesthetically pleasing but this is subjective to the individual

    • +1

From what I’ve read, stand-alone speakers (and amp) + sub will always sound better than a sound bar at the equivalent price. You pay a premium for slim/sleek design and visual appeal of the sound bar.

Having said that, stereo speakers won’t give you surround sound effect which some sound bars might do better.

  • Just got the SSung's Q 3.1 @ half the price so will stick with that for another couple of years, but thank you op!

  • This is some inside baseball but im fairly certain that the new arc must be coming soon, there has been 2 lowest prices ever in a row.

Anyone used the Beam as a standalone music player? Currently have a google home max and looking to upgrade

    • +1

It's fine, gets it done, but 2 stereo speaker setup is mileeeeesss better. i.e 2 x One/One SL. But you might just be looking for a bar solution.

      • Did lots of reading of 2x Ones vs 1x Google home max or Sonos Five.
Put 2x Ones into my basket, applied discount ~$500 in total.
Then found out MobileCiti still has the Google home max for sale at $289 or ~$260 with discount.
I know the Google home max is EOL since 2020, but the current one still works well. Now have 2 in stereo mode !

Sonos beam gen2 or Samsung Q Series Q600B 3.1.2 Channel Soundbar? Which one is better, Samsung is currently on sale at Jb.

    • Does bass matter to you? The Q600B has a sub whereas the Beam 2 requires you to pay extra for one so personally I'd choose the former out of those two. And since you can get JB to pricematch at anytime, it doesn't matter if they have sales or not.

      • I like the bass effect for movies. But more ozbargain upvote to Sonos.

        • +1

Every time there's a saving of $3, the deal would get half a thousand votes.

          But you do you.

          • @ChillBro: Not in a hurry to buy, will wait and buy the right one.

  • +1

Thanks OP - trying to get a PM at JB or TGG, then use 15% off GCs…..

    • update - JB won't match coupon codes. prob common knowledge lol

      • +1

They've matched coupon codes for me in the past, and stacked their own discounts on top, including the recent GG sales on a Sonos Roam (regular version), which I ended up getting for $183 after gift cards.

      • +1

I was able to price match a wireless router from Wireless1 with a coupon just earlier this week. I did it via online chat and basically said:

Hi, I was wondering if you can price match this item (link to item on JB Hi-Fi's website), with this item (link to item that you want to get price matched). Insert shop name here also has a discount code XXXXXX added when checking out, which brings the price down to $XXX.XX.

Thank you for your time :)

        YMMV

        Hope this helps.

  • Black Sonos Beam in stock again

Why anyone would buy into a company that deliberately bricks its devices to make you buy new ones like Sonos does is beyond my comprehension, tbh. Especially when just getting normal sound systems delivers better results for less money.

    • +2

      Because
      - they sound good
      - the controversial “recycle mode” that did brick devices in exchange for a discount was a) discontinued years ago after a matter of months, b) only applied to products that were ten years old and c) was not forced in any way
      - they support their products for a comparatively long time
      - longevity of home cinema audio devices continues to decrease anyway as various HDMI standards and features are introduced
      - Whether you value them or not, the Sonos app and ecosystem and interoperability are key product differentiators that others do value. If you want dumb speakers, great, more options for you.

  • +1

Price match works with gg. D

    Did not work with JB.

  • Hi guys, anyone know how the arc is compared to kef ls50 gen 1?

  • +2

Bought a beam Gen 2 as ex-floor stock at HN a few weeks ago for $288. It’s a nice speaker.
