High quality and good value chopsticks

Any recommendations for high quality and good value chopsticks?

Comments

  • are you looking for branded chopsticks?

    • Yes, I'm considering something like the Hiware fibreglass ones. But not sure where to get them in Australia (the ones on Amazon AU are fake).

      • I have seen the ones on Amazon AU, and was wondering how you could tell they were fake?

  • steal em from restaurants

  • Two options, single-use wood, or washable fake-ivory plastic. What "quality" is lacking for you?

    • Plastic is not good for high temperatures so I'm thinking either metal or fibreglass

Bamboo or wood is harder to clean and can get dirty over time

  • Maybe try these?
    They are based in Melbourne.

  • Do you live near one of Muji's five Australian retail stores?

  • although traditional bamboo chopsticks are used by the Chinese for I don’t even know how long. But for hygiene and durability I would actually recommend a Korean stainless steel chopstick(just the normal round ones), it does feel a bit heavier on the hand. But its really not a big deal, and I don’t see anyone can actually break these, or it just starting to lose its usability overtime.
And value wise its pretty good too, unless you want a old Japanese guy that hand makes the thing for three month, it would generally be pretty cheap. You could just grab the cheapest you can find really, as I don’t think the different price tag would really mean a different thing.

    • From doing brief research, it seems there are a few different type: bamboo, metal, fibreglass. Seems like fibreglass is durable (like metal) without being heavy and metallic tasting. Would this be the optimal choice in terms of quality?

      • I actually haven’t try on of this, but they look just as durable and safe, aside from the metallic taste. I think they just come down too preferences and feel, great find!

  • I have these. I'm happy with them
