My Dentist Didn't Charge Members Choice prices due to Medibank Shutdown

I went on dentist like 3 weeks ago on weekend when Medibank was shutdown and I had to pay out of pocket and claim later.

I paid around $500, today I received like $100 back from Medibank so decided to call them to see the breakdown.
Medibank asked if the dentist was Members Choice and it was but then advised me to call them and ask my dentist why they overcharged me?

As silly as it sounds, I did make the call and their response was like oh yea because Medibank was shut you were treated as standard client (literally told the reception I'm with Medibank verbally and on their form) so we charged you additional $250 that we can hold for store credit/refund. They also advised "don't worry others have also called and we manually fixed them"

Question is what if I didn't call? THEY would've not contacted me and would've kept it. What happens to others that don't follow up? That weekend it was busy just before Christmas and start of holidays.

Is there a way I can force them to contact other people and don't wait for them to call for their refund? Should I report them or I feel like I should do something this is bad.

Did you present a Medibank Private Membership Card on the day or just say you were a Member?

Report them if you feel better. But reading your past posts you have a tendency to dump your emotional accusations and not follow up with a single comment. Not sure if you’re all talks no actions?!?

Wow, his profile says 86 submissions. They are all forum threads asking about junk.

Sir, this is a bargain website.

ozbargaintherapist @ your service, how can I help you?

Some people are just lonely and have no one else to vent too.

I think it's better they post online than go and do something stupid or hurt themselves.

Think about it from the dentist pov.

People can easily sign up and cancel health insurance, without access to medibank they cannot discern if the PHI card is valid or not.

Maybe they need access to medibank to charge the members choice cost in the first place. So they might not have a way around it.

    • not really the medibank guy said they couldve used the app calcuator or website and just charge you that amount.
lets say they couldnt do that why they didnt informed me that i was overcharged until i called them 1 month later?

They charged $250 of ops money. The reason and the future refund should've been communicated. They weren't going to be contacting and refunding anyone.

  • I reckon it is a Yin Yang thing.

My background is south east Asian and I get confused at times too lol, I'm not offended by it because the stereotype is there for a reason, lot of my brown brothers deliver on uber eats. It's the reality lmao.

I don't believe the workers that confuse in these situations are racist or anything, they just have a lot on I'd imagine.
