I was looking for a single smart speaker (for the bedroom) compatible with Bluetooth and Airplay. This is probably the best sounding/value for money in its price range.

  The nice thing about Sonos’ new voice control is it’s only for music and doesn’t leave the device. Ie it’s processed locally

    Means as long as it's connected to wifi you can get Alexa to play off it. Doesn't mean it can activate any commands though

  Unless it has drastically improved in the past few years…..avoid.

  When I had a linkplay system, it was buggy as hell and the interface was far from seamless and not as slick as Sonos.

  I'd go the Symfonisk. I'm running them throughout my house for years and is great value

    The reviews don't seem to suggest any problems with the interface, so perhaps the technology (incl. software) has matured.

    YouTube has been suggesting smart speaker videos based on my search history and I feel vindicated (admittedly, based on reviews) that I have chose the right model of low cost smart speaker from a sound quality POV.

    The build (speaker drivers and cabinet) of the Edifier seems to better from a sound quality POV as well cf. the Ikea [made by Sonos' ODM as suggested in 2nd video]:

  You could also wait for the new Apple HomePod 2nd gen. to be released (perhaps in March '23), but that will come with an Apple tax.
