Suggestions for Transporting Car Interstate? (NSW to SA)

My sister is relocating from Newcastle (NSW) to North Adelaide (SA). She needs to transport some of her belongings (no furniture) and her car (Mazda 3 Hatchback) to her new residence. She's not comfortable doing such a long drive on her own and we don't have the time to join her on the drive on the dates she's moving. We will be able to visit her a week later via plane to help her set-up her new place.

Q: Does anyone have any recommendations for companies that transport cars interstate? Any other details that can be provided would be greatly appreciated such as cost, duration, were you able to load the car with luggage etc. She will be able to manage about 9 days without her car leading up to the move date but of course, the less time required the better. There are quite a few options online but at varying costs and with different reviews, would love to hear some personal anecdotes.

Thanks

I assume your sister is 18-21yo?

If older why does she need her family to fly in to help her?

  • By the time you pay for the company to move your car, you’d have easily paid for 3+ nights accomodation plus food instead. Meaning the trip might only be 400-500km a day of driving. Tell her to make it a holiday. I have driven Perth to Sydney, Sydney to Brisbane, Brisbane to Sale and loved doing it over a few days with some sightseeing on the way.

Also FWIW most car removal companies require the car to be empty due to insurance purposes and knowing what they are transporting.

  • Tell her to take a friend she trusts driving with, make it a fun trip and pay for friend's plane ticket back.

  • We used Prixcar to transport 2 vehicles from Brisbane to Perth.
$1,750 Each, took 4 weeks first vehicle and 10 days the second.
you are not allowed to transport anything in the vehicle that is not factory fitted.
Car one had car mats stolen and small dent in mudguard,
Car two had removeable tray in centre console stolen.
They denied any liability and pointed to the form that said we are not common carriers.
    You live and learn.
Would recommend a family / friend do it for her and pay all their costs and return flight.
