    • Chinese ain't the only ones that eat Bat Soup though.

        Straight off The Bat

What does straight off the bat mean?

        immediately; right away

Time to enjoy another succulent Chinese meal!

That was originally an American recipe, don't you know anything?

      • I'm looking forward to the New York cookbook. Pizza, hotdogs and XBB.

  • Doesn’t include Mongolian beef, but the ginger chicken looks tasty

    • +8

Are you looking for the Mongolian cookbook instead?

This one is Chinese and features such Chinese favourites as "chicken wings from china" and "chicken wings from china 2", not to mention "Asian pesto".

No Mongolian beef?! I hope all my other traditional favourites are included, like honey prawns, lemon chicken, egg foo young, and chow mein. That would be an absolute travesty if they weren’t.

      the ginger chicken looks tasty

But the Amazon reviews say the book doesn't have photos

  • In all seriousness though omnivore's cookbook probably much better and also free

  • +1

In all seriousness, you are better off learning Chinese dishes off Youtube than looking at a cookbook so that you can see what sort of consistency of sauces, softness of dough etc than just to read it off a book.

  • Units are imperial (pounds and ounces etc.) and lacks photos of the end product.

IMO cookbooks are getting superseded by cooking videos. If you are going to use an eBook then you could also just watch an instructional video which I think is more useful.

The book should be call American asian Cookbook, it makes me feel like ordering DUMPLINGS from a ribs house.
But making classcial chinese food at home is real hard, you cant really get the same taste from the restaurants. The stove in those restaurants is like a jet engine, but most stoves at home are like a candle.

  • I see a post mentioning China, click on it and am not surprised to see tons of deleted and racist comments

    Stay classy Australia

    • Sadly not surprising with the amount of fear mongering the Aussie gov and media does tbh, oldest politician trick in the book
