IdolPad Plus 7" Android 4.0 OS Cortex A8 5 Point Capacitive Touchscreen Tablet $98.98USD shipped

11

Originally I have found it on Amazon but it's not available for shipping to Australia.Note: the tablet supports full access of Google Play.
But I find they can ship the item to Australia from their official website.

http://www.amazon.com/Android-Capacitive-Touchscreen-G-senso…

RRP is $199 which is BS but $100 shipped is more like it.

Yes, Nexus 7 is defenitely better for $249 but if your budget is $100, this will probably be an ok choice.

Pros & Cons

PROS:

  • Capacitive screen: look into other tablets models that offer similar specs with Capacitive Touch Screens. IdolPad Plus is the lowest priced Capacitive Touch Screen 7 inch Tablet PC in the market. You cannot get the full tablet experience using a resistive touch screen. For those of you who don't know the difference between capacitive and resistive touch screens, think iPod/iPad/iPhone (capacitive) vs. first generation touch screen cell phones for which you had to use your fingernails or the stylus pens (resistive). Capacitive touch screen allows for Multi-Touch gaming and Pinch-Zoom control.

  • Fast response: 1.2 GHZ chipset is superfast and reliable.

  • Expandability: supports up to 32gb MicroSD card.

  • Finally able to stream Netflix video & do Skype Video Chat!

CONS:

  • GPS/Bluetooth: GPS & Bluetooth are not available on the IdolPad Plus.

  • Camera: It has a 1.3 megapixels front facing webcam. Camera resolution is pretty grainy, not high definition picture quality.

They also have 10" tab with higher resolution and more ram and storage.

Hmmm. You can get an Ainol Novo 7 Mars with 1024x600 screen for about the same price.

    http://www.spemall.com/Ainol-Novo-7-Mars-Android-4-0-3-OS-Ta…

    Specs
    Display H Res 1024 x 600

Processor Model 8726-M6L Amlogic 1 ghz Cortex Family
    Graphics Accelerator Mali400
    Memory RAM (GB) 1
    Memory Storage (GB) 8

So… twice the amount of RAM, twice the amount of Internal NAND, and better resolution. Sorry bud, no deal.

    • IdolPad has 5 point multi touch and mini hdmi output. It depends on what you are looking for really.

      • +1

The Mars has a 5 point touch too. 5pt touch is not really a selling point. IMO if you want a cheap tablet that you can sit on the dunny and surf with, or entertain yourself in bed the Novo 7 Mars is a better choice due to the better specifications.

Besides, a single core tablet doesn't really have the grunt to output to a full HD TV via HDMI.
If you want games and HDMI, maybe drop a couple more bucks on the dual core Aurora II for $150.

        • IMO, all the yum cha tablets aren't really attracted to me. I used to own one (was given it for free a year ago) and it sucked. There is only so much they can give for $100 price tag and certainly there are trade off from one tablet to another. Till I can try and use one, i can't say which one is the best for $100. You've got a fair point but a neg is not justified till you have tried both tabs but thanks for the comment. ps. i also owned a samsung galaxy tab and the os wasn't smooth enough then I sold it. Android tablets are a mess so to speak but the Nexus 7 looks very promising with Jelly Bean installed along with project butter. I only wish Google will come up with a 10" display for around half the price of an ipad.

        • +1

Well, don't take the neg personally, I was just expressing my 2c that $100 will generally get you a better value tablet. I've used plenty of Chinesetabs before (the MSI Windpad being my current one) and 800 x 600 screens are just downright ugly on a 7" tablet. I'd gladly take the lack of HDMI as a tradeoff.

        • +1

No worries mite :) This deal was meant to be a forum topic in the first place but then I thought someone might find it useful.

"yum cha" tablets, fyi, thats pretty offensive

        • +2

Its a pretty common term used in the industry, not meant to be offensive and not made up by the above user

        • Well i guess that makes it all okay..not

the negs were completely and utterly unnecessary to say the least. good on ya to those who neged me, makes ya feel good

  • I have a few 10.1" versions of this tablet (1024x600). It's nasty but cheap. Good price for what you're getting. Or rather, what you're getting is good for the price you pay. But it's not a good quality tablet if you aren't price conscious. But price would be the reason you buy one of these to begin with.

The screen which I presume is no better or worse than this version, is TN I think. Its viewing angles are poor. And a 16:9 widescreen tablet at 10.1" just looks and feels really weird. They should have gone for 16:10 like most tablets, or 3:2.
