    • "Dude you still haven't shared the exact date you sent the money. Assuming you didn't use RTGS or Osko to make the payment, have you considered it might still be 'in transit'?
      "

If using osko, the deposit should be instant.

Looks like no min spend required for the executable trade:

Deposit AU$100 or above and execute at least 1 buy trade in US Stocks or Options to get
+ Free Fractional shares valued US$40-150

Anyone knows how the US$40-150 will be determined? Random?

    • +1

I think this is true and that I received the bonus after my first trade of a ~$5 stock.

Anyone knows how the US$40-150 will be determined? Or random?

It seems to be random. I think it's similar to Stake's random stock promotion.

$100 in Apple shares 20 years ago would be over $50,000 today.

Past performance is no guarantee of future performance.

If the same growth in value happens over the next 20 years then Buffet/Berkshire is going to have over 50 trillion dollars worth with his 5% share in Apple.

$100 in Bitcoin 10 years ago would be $125,000 today.

  • TSLA 😱😱😱

      • But will you buy puts after the stock is already down 72% in the last year?

Which platform would you recommend for trading US stock options? I remember years ago we had optionsxpress, thinkorswim etc and then they all decided to ditch their Aussie customers…

Is IB still the best option out there these days?

        • IBKR or TradeStation. There's a few others that accept Aussies.

You can do options on Schwab if you sign up as an international customer, with the added benefit of it being a full-service, $0 brokerage. The only issue there is no purchasing fractional shares. They did buy out TD Ameritrade so there is talk of thinkorswim coming back under Schwab and providing fractional trading for international customers.

      • Webull do options ?

I sold tesla for about 1200% profit, wew! Tempted to jump back in. Not that tempted though.

      • +3

I'd be tempted to short Tesla if I had money to spare. Musk has a lot more feet to shove in his mouth yet.

  • Question: if you are investing in Stocks/Shares first time . Do you need to deposit or spend $500 on your first trade? Can you start the trading with a little as $100 -$200?

    • +2

If trading on the ASX with a CHESS sponsored broker, $500 is the minimum for any stock you haven't bought before. Otherwise there is no minimum.

    • +2

For this particular promotion, you could deposit $100 AUD and buy a stock for $1 if you wanted to.

I think the $500 minimum is a general rule applying to only Australian shares on ASX if it is the first purchase of a particular security. ie. you want to buy company X and shares are $1 each. Then you buy $500 in your first trade and then your next trade can be $1. Then you'd own $501 total, for example.

Thanks. And if i need to invest in US Stocks ? Via Stake or SelfWealth? Is there any minimum first investment there?

        • There is no minimum spend on stake for US shares. I don’t have selfweath so not sure about that.

          • +1

@kaal: The difference that people forget.

In Australia as you own the share under your own shareholder number.

In these types of platforms you are a piecemeal owner of the right to a portion or whole numbers of a share owned by the platform (or even a related entity) - need to read the t&c's

Bit of a painful process to open the account. Now waiting for it to be verified. How long does it take to receive your bonus after making a trade?

    • Could you tell us what info they wanted?

      • +3

Asking about company name that you work for, department, position, driver's license number, photo front and back, then has to ID your face. What kind of experience you have with trading, what kind of trading you want to do on the platform. Pain in the ass.

        • Yeah that was a bit of a marathon process compared to eToro and some others I've opened recently…

  • When we can withdraw the money? Is it instant or do we have to wait for sometime

  • So after 90 days the fee for stock buys is 25 cents per 1000 transacted.
What the story with funding? Can i do a bank transfer with wise? Or do they allow transfers in aud?

    • You can do bank transfer of AUD to their Aussie receiving end.

  • Do they offer OTC trades?
I really, really want to buy BYD (BYDDY)

    • BYDDY is there.
Trade only. No option in on BYD

  • Has anyone received anything other than $40 of AMZN?

    • I think you are the only one who had actually managed to sign up, deposit cleared, and made a trade.
I just tried now, sign up and validation was relatively quick.
Deposit is NOT instant as JP Morgan doesn't have OSKO as it seems. (Webull's AUD deposit bank)
I assume I can trade US account from AUD account like most.
I will update once or if I get my bonus.

      • I signed my partner up and she deposited instantly through ing direct and it showed as an osko payment. Then funds appeared in account very shortly thereafter.

I assume I can trade US account from AUD account like most.

I'm not sure. I tested with first coverting $30 aud (which is minimum) to usd, then bought $5 stock and bonus was instant.

If someone finds a way to auto convert, please post it here.

        • Thanks. I will once the funds are cleared re: covert AUD and USD. Must be NAB holding the payment for security reasons.

        • Did you have to upload proof of deposit? I get a "cannot enter a date later than today" error. I too did a deposit through NAB and it was not instant even though the transaction says osko was used.

        • Didn’t you say in the post above you only need to deposit $100 and then do a $1 trade?

So we have to convert $30 minimum or $1?

    • +1

Think everyone here got Amazon unfortunately…

  • How do I know once the funds are cleared? Will they show on the Assets tab? Paid with ubank which said it was instant/osko. Also trying to click on ‘I complete my transfer’ button and upload screenshot but keep getting error ‘cannot enter a date later than today’. Tried with 3rd Jan and 4th Jan, same error.

    • Same here with the error.

    • +2

I kept today's date but set the year to 2022 as a workaround, which was successful.

      • Lol that worked, thanks.

      • +2

Deposit came through after about 30 mins. Did not have to upload proof.

        • +2

Did my trade (0.1 of AMD) this morning. The reward came through instantly, received USD$40 of AMZN. Expected delivery of the stocks is 12/1/23.

    • So you get a push notification and email when a deposit is received and it does show up in the Assets tab for anyone else who is wondering…

  • Do you need to convert AUD to USD before buying a stock like Apple? I got to the final order screen but it said ‘fractional trading shares can only be placed during market hours.’

    • +1

I think you'll have to wait until the market opens again at 9.30 am EST

    • +2

You can buy whole shares during pre-market. For fractional shares specifically, needs to be during US market hours.

And to buy during pre-market, it also needs to be a limit order, not market order.

  • +2

Missed out on the normal trading hours so had to buy during extended trading hours.
    Deposited $100 last night.
    Converted $30 AUD to $USD.
Bought 1 share of NIO (around USD$10.65).

This should qualify me for the bonus stock right? Does it get added to Assets tab immediately or do I have to wait until normal market hours again now?

Edit: Looks like in the bottom right of the app (Menu) -> My Rewards, the reward can be claimed there. I got $40 Amazon like most others. It says expected delivery date 12/1?

    • Correct. You can also trade out the initial buy straight away if you want.

  • Submitted my application and now waiting for the account to be opened (hopefully in the next couple of hours as the expiry for this promo is actually today).

Edit: Account's been appoved after a ~10 minute wait.

  • Good activity !

  • +4

    Promotion looks to be extended.

Referral bonus for referrer got upgraded from $30-$150 USD to $50-$500 USD. No change to signup bonus.

  • Anyone else not receive the free shares? Deposited $100 and bought some US shares 5 days ago and still nothing…

    • +2

Go to ‘my rewards’ and check if it’s pending

      Mine came through yesterday

      • Yep it was there, thanks.

  • +2

Deposit $100 AUD, convert to USD. Make a purchase as per the instructions. Claim free stock (it'll be AMZN).

I hope it somehow automated the W8BEN form. Etoro is really good and straightforward about that, super simple. I saw nothing mentioned about it when making a few purchases on Webull. Strange.

  • Yeah received Amazon as well

  • Works really well, quick to open given the process and had to wait 4 days for the shares to show in my account. Reccomended
