[PC, Steam] Doom Eternal in This Month's Humble Choice, Subscribe for A$16.95 Per Month @ Humble Bundle

550

I cancelled my humble membership recently after a couple of underwhelming months. Lo and behold this month's bundle is actually decent. Doom Eternal (not the deluxe edition, unfortunately) and a couple of decent second-tier games so I will probably resubscribe for this month at least. Unfortunately its padded out with the usual obligatory t*rds that I will probably never play. Even with Doom being on sale at the moment this bundle probably justifies itself I think.

Included games in this months bundle:

DOOM Eternal,
Hokko Life
The Serpent Rogue
Tribes of Midgard
Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPG
OlliOlli World - Rad Edition
Grow: Song of the Evertree
Conan Chop Chop

Played tribes of midgard on xbox, that's a great little game which supports up to 10 people in co-op.

    • Is it cross platform? I remember PSN gave it away b4.

Seems a no from my google search.

OlliOlli World + Doom Eternal make this worth it!

I bought Doom Eternal for $2 from Harvey Norman in a clearance sale. It was bundled with some Logitech keyboards/mice a couple of years ago and these were leftover codes. That said, the game itself was a complete disappointment (platforming wtf!)…

That said, will be pausing this month..

Doom Eternal was my choice for game of the year 2020
Can see why some people wouldn’t like it though

Doom 2016 was great, and I loved it (although the second half was a bit of a slog).

Doom Eternal was much too prescriptive in the forced playstyles and I really couldn't enjoy it as I had to concentrate too much on the required actions to get ammo etc. Certainly not a bad game by any measure though.

        • I thought the core game was amazing, but the expansions really forced me to use certain weapon types/attachments when I didn't want to. Became a chore.

        • +1

Eternal was trash. Too much of a platform game with the climbing and jumping. Also, managing the glory kills, ammo and armour levels was tedious AF. Even the soundtrack was worse.

2016 was a much better game.

    • Doom eternal was awesome!

Looks like Steam has an even better price right now of $13.73 - https://store.steampowered.com/app/782330/DOOM_Eternal/

I have decided that you are not a very smart individual. Just so I am explaining myself so you can understand you are getting other games here…..

      • I switched off after I saw the listing for Doom.

    • +2

Negging you not because you are right (but moronic at the same time), but because it's actually cheaper on Game Pass.

      • You don't keep the game after game pass expires, so you're in the same bucket as them.

  • +8

Doom eternal free on Xbox game pass in case you don't know.

    • +2

It should stay in Game Pass as well, as Microsoft owns it.

    • +1

Although with the humble bundle you get to keep it forever and if you're into shooters the gameplay is solid enough to keep playing (with the usual Doom ramping of difficulty). That said it's hard to imagine not using gamepass for PC gaming and that's where I've played Eternal.

Doom eternal is like $13 on steam sale atm. I guess theres extra games with this though

  • +4

For those who are interested in picking up Doom Eternal only, it is currently $11.68 off GMG, or slightly cheaper off Kinguin/Eneba and some other of these keyshops as well

  • +1

Steam key from Eneba €5.50 plus fees.

Code AKS8 for a small discount.

Devs usually prefer piracy to people buying from key resellers.

      • Those devs already sold the game key and got there money, Steam has a function where publishers can withdraw already claimed keys.

I prefer paying for the game and getting it on Steam over pirating, I don't prefer paying more than the publisher is willing to sell to others.

        • +3

That's just not correct. This is just one dev speaking about grey market sites:

If you can't afford or don't want to buy our games full-price, please pirate them rather than buying them from a key reseller. These sites cost us so much potential dev time in customer service, investigating fake key requests, figuring out credit card chargebacks, and more.

I don't prefer paying more than the publisher is willing to sell to others.

Steam's regional pricing allows fair access to games to countries with a much weaker currency. Some people from rich countries choose to abuse regional pricing, but very few claim that they're supporting the Devs, even completely discounting stolen keys/keys bought with stolen credit card details.

  • Encased is decent too if you are into turn based RPG's.

    • +3

Note Encased was free on Epic during their giveaway last month, in case anyone's already picked it up and this was swinging their decision

      • And that's where I spent a lot of last week doing! Am enjoying it though I find the quest tracker quite confusing

  • I signed up for a year for black friday so its an easy pickup for me ~$11 each month from that deal.

    • Yeah same.. couldn't say no to that price..

  • How does this work? Is it an app I download with access to the games or is it codes I receive to redeem on Steam

    • +5

They give out Steam keys for each of the games

      • +2

        Thanks mate purchased

      • +3

Note that not all games you get are for Steam. Some are DRM-free, some may be EPIC etc.

  • definitely another skip month

    • +1

Same for me but only because I own Doom and Encased; otherwise great line up

      • Yeah encased was free on epic like two weeks ago and doesn't reappy review that well anyway. Doom eternal is good but that's it.

  • +1

I find they normally do discounts towards the second half of the month to try and get people to come back to renew again for those that don't like paying full price.

last month was $8 USD for the first 2 months.

    • You can also pause, and they offer a discount when you pause as well. I've paused, been offered the discount and then at the end of the month offered another discount as well. I've unpaused for like 1 month out of 12 each year though (and am on the old original plan) so YMMV

  • I had recently purchased Doom Eternal, the main draw for this Monthly bundle, so I picked up the 3 other titles I was interested in from resellers for around $3 USD, and will pause this month. I am playing Doom 2016 and Diablo 3 (the latter a December purchase) at the moment, I have finite gaming time and lots of catching up to do.

  • Doom is available on the Xbox Gamepass which is most likely 1$ for a month if you haven't bought it in the last 3 months. + a bunch of other games that are much more worthwhile.

  • If anyone has a spare key for OlliOlli World please let me know. I've got most of the other games in this batch already.
