not looking good weather wise … are the games undercover or in the open?

    • +2

      Games are played undercover

the cover goes over them not under them, therefore it is indoors overcover.

  • Any of these matches featuring Nadal?

      No darl

  • Anyone else have trouble applying the discount at checkout? Its still doubling the prices for me…

    • +1

The price shown already has the 50% applied. For example a $30 ticket is originally $60.

      • nvm, too expensive for mediocre tennis. i would consider if it was bogo for the current ticket prices.

They were giving out free tickets last week. The tournament has been poorly attended

    • Spare a thought for WA. No Austalians to watch here. Countries that were playing didn't really have popular players in it. They were also giving away free tickets here. At the Hopman Cup over the last decade or two it's been a lot better and I remember watching some good tennis but not sure this format will work out (at least here in WA). Seems a bit skewed towards the Eastern States fans unfortunately. Not a negative thing towards the Eastern Staters or anything but I think that's why its pretty crappy here in WA at the moment. Not sure it's worth even having over here with the attendance.

This new tournament is terrible. They should stop trying to make tennis a team sport. I want to see top ranked players, not randos who happen to be countrymen of top ranked players.

Here in Brisbane our old ATP 250 frequently had matches between top 20 players, both for male and female tournaments. I would always buy something like tickets to all the quarter final days, and have pretty much 100% great matches guaranteed.

This year under the new format if you wanted to see Iga Swiatek play someone not way below her level, you had to endure half a days worth of randos. I bought three tickets and two went unused.

I'd get tickets to the final if I were in Sydney, but the terrible attendance of the early rounds is 100% justified and does not bode well for future editions.

I partially agree but it's a good way to blood some young and upcoming stars. Format definitely needs tweaking. Dead rubbers should be avoided. I do like the mixed format though.

      • I like the equal prize money and points, but the mixed format was better in the old Brisbane International IMHO. Except for the finals, you had both men's and women's matches on the centre court every day, so a session pass felt as much like a mixed tournament as this one does. And that's not to mention the side courts, which this format doesn't even use…

    • so they should also stop it in the olympics?

      • +1

Olympic tennis is not really a 'team event'.

      • How on Earth is tennis at the Olympics a team event?

Individuals who win their matches move on to the next round. Individuals who lose their matches don't.

It's the definition of individual sport.

Nobody who has an Olympic gold medal in tennis got it by virtue of having been shat into existence within the same set of imaginary lines as someone else.

  • Have a few spare tickets to todays 1pm if anyone would like dm me
