Thermocafe Everyday Food Jar Assorted 350ml $13 (Was $26) @ Woolworths

630

These are pretty good for kids to send hot food to school or to take out when babies are starting solids. I think also good for people who are on the road for work. Can use on ski trips to have hot lunch without paying crazy ski resort food prices. It helps to fill with boiling water first, then drain and dry before adding your food to preheat it.

I also use to keep things cool like berries for my kid to snack on.

Not quite as cheap as the Kmart equivalent ($9 350ml / $12 500ml) but I think a bit more compact in terms of space efficiency in a bag and some may prefer the look of this one.

Not to be confused with this one at Woolworths that looks the same except in Dark Blue which is showing as $26 https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/872343 . It also worth noting that the one on sale is showing as ‘out of stock’ but using the stock checker there seems to be plenty available in most stores.

How's the quality stack up with Thermos original food jar like this one
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Thermos-Stainless-King-Insulated-S…

I'm always confused why Thermos create 2 different brand rather single quality product

Those from Amazon are the best, we have like 3 at home. Gets used by family members almost everyday.

Stay clear from the one from WW

This one is smaller ie smaller capacity. Not sure about insulation but it appear to have a thinner side wall so probably not quiet as good. I think it depends what you purpose is, how long you want it to stay warm and who’s using it. If it’s kids I’d suggest a lighter cheaper one as they have to carry it, and it might get lost.

There's also 500ml ones that look to be the same as this one on Amazon for $16.95. Teal, red or smoke.

Would this seal in the smell of an especially smelly herb?

It would depend who/what you’re trying to prevent from smelling it. Human likely. Sniffer dog, perhaps not - I’d imagine you’d need to put it in very carefully not touching it with your fingers before putting the lid on, herb only touching the inside as it goes in. I do put stinky cheese in a normal plastic container to stop it stinking out the fridge and it works quite well.

  • Does not hold heat, gets warm, I doubt it's insulated.

  • Would this be good for cold overnight oats?

The tip to fill with hot water, empty and dry and THEN fill with food is great, Tha ks for that

    • No worries :)
