  • So i'm looking for a gaming projector. Was going to go with the BenQ TK700STi until I saw this on for sale.

Can anyone share there experience with BenQ TK700STi / Optoma UHZ45 and buying from B&H?

    • The competition for this one posted is the X3000i that costs 3k!

      • From my quick research, i refer the BenQ TK700STi over X3000i. But I haven't tested any so I can't really comment.

It 'sounds' like both are good for gaming but the BenQ TK700STi might be a bit better for movies. + the TK700 is $700 cheaper than the X3000i. Both of those projectors are LED, where the Optoma UHZ45 is laser.

        • Benq x3000i is better than tk700sti in any situation. It is in another league.

    • +1

The Benq flagship in this space is the x3000i - this is the model to beat in the $3K laser (LED) space

See my other post further down for the review link - unless your room can't physically accommodate the x3000i, then it's the one to get 👍

      • Better than the BenQ w1070?

        • Not sure if serious.

The w1070 is 10 years old, not 4K, uses a lamp, and has like half the colour reproduction of the X3000i.

          • @Nom: Not serious, but the 1070 was the king of budget projectors at the time

  • I have bought from them physically but never had something shipped. There NYC store is pretty impressive.

I have the optoma UHD35+ that I got on an ebay eofy sale last year for $1700. Looks like this is the model replacing it.

It's an awesome dumb projector, can see everything clear as in daylight, gaming is quick.

Cons are is it gets hot. like hot hot, you need the aircon on. Fan noise is less than the aircon so you don't notice. And the o/s is very basic, in 2023 one would assume a smarter device, this one is basically just text prompts, can be hard and annoying to get your settings right.

Definitely worth the buy, for an extra grand I'm not sure it's worth it as you can get ultra short throws for around the same price with similar specs.

    • yeah, i did consider the Optoma UHD35+ at first. But now it's between BenQ TK700STi or Optoma UHZ45.

    • The replacement for the UHD35 is the UHD55. Both lamp base.

Supports 3d from bluray, not sure if it's active or passive though

    • Active. Passive needs 2 projectors

      • Does it though? My understanding is that with the advent of 4k,some sort of interlacing is now possible to produce FHD 3d using only one LCD. I could be mistaken, but I know that's what the case is with TV's (although I only ever heard of one TV that did it, which was the last true Toshiba before they stopped making 3d tvs and the tvs all together). It may have been an non polished system like anaglyph/red blue

The two projector method I saw was a guy hacked a version using 2 projectors and some polarising filters, so that you only saw one projector image for each eye.

  • What are you planning on for screen?

  • Do you know if this has a warranty in Australia

    • not sure. I've emailed them a few questions. waiting for there response

      • Please keep us posted. I am holding the purchase due to that.

        • You'll need to contact Optoma Australia to see if they will cover the US model.

BH warranty isn't going to help you because it'll cost you $hundreds to ship the projector back to the US !

I've purchased through them a few times and they are rock solid. For this item definitely check out warranty coverage as well as import duty costs.

I've bought a bunch of expensive camera equipment from B&H over the years. No reservations about buying from them at all.

  • Looks like the price has increase. For almost 2700 It is not worth It. Benq x3000i appears for 2800 from ebay now and again when the 10% sales off is avaliable.

  • 240 volts compatible??
    Edit… yes

  • I have bought all of the in-wall speakers in my home theatre from them. Prices were hundreds of $ cheaper than here. But one of the speakers didn't come with the front grill. After a couple of emails with photos, they send me the replacement part.

  • I am currently building a new home theatre and was strongly considering the new Epson LS12000. But this one looks more value….

    • +2

Epson ls12000 is miles ahead of this

      • Almost 3x the price lol

        • +1

From its release it has come down almost 1800$… Other option would be to settle down with tw9400… I was mainly looking for the lens memory option and to use CinemaScope screen..

        • +1

Bought the LS12000 locally (selby boxing day sales) for $6999 , which is quite a lot.
Lens shift and Zoom made it simple to install (all powered), as well as decent lens position memory when you go full cinemascope.

Personally I was never a fan of DLP because I can see rainbows and it gives me a headache in minutes. Pleased with 4k @120hz on the Epson though, good match for an xbox series X

Only issue I had is the inbuilt house cabling can't handle 4k/120, cannot even handle 4k, so I had to feed signal in HDMI1, and pull audio out the eARC HDMI2 back to the AV amp… This limits me to one input… luckily the xbox pretty much has everything covered in that regard, and I can put 1080P sources into the amp anyway.

You can pickup the very highly regarded Benq x3000i for slightly more directly in AU - Rio regularly have 10% codes off this price - https://www.rio.com.au/product/benq-x3000i-4k-uhd-gaming-pro…

    https://www.avsforum.com/threads/benq-x3000i-4k-hdr-dci-p3-4… for the review

    • Just checked out the review and this projector looks fantastic. May be time to upgrade!

      • Good timing - Rio have a 10% code live right now according to their homepage…

  • "Has anyone bought from B&H before and want to share there experience?"
Everything is fine, but if you have a problem with a malfunctioning item you are left to fend for yourself.

I purchased a OEM HDD that was DOA from Day 1… B&H refused the refund as I throw away the plain cardboard box it came in… I had to send it back to WD in Vietnam at my own cost to get a replacement.

  • I bought this one plus 10% discount to replace a benq w1110. Delivery this week.

Bought expensive camera lens from BH many moons ago. No issue - quality seller that's been around forever, but keep in mind you used to be able to skirt tax on buying from the likes of them.. not so much anymore. Considering the exchange rate, add the import fees, GST etc… you're probably not saving much anymore.

  • You need to go to their NY Store to see how rock solid they are. I have been buying photography equipment from them when I was in the US and subsequently from Australia

    • That would negate the any deal/savings made from this offer…

      • +2

Not if you found a few thousand dollars on your way there though.

  • Has this one got vertical and horizontal lens shift for easy placement?

  • Is this one a real 4k or a fake 4k?

    • -1

There is no "fake 4K" in the DLP world.

I suggest you go and learn how pixel shift works - every single 4K pixel is individually addressable and displayable.
