Chevron CR2025 Lithium Coin Cell 4 Pack $2.50 (Was $10) @ Woolworths

230

Coin cell batteries. You get what you pay for - so don't expect these to last as long as Duracell/Energizer.

A heap in stock at Woolworths Ashgrove (Brisbane).

CR2016 were also on sale (https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/195511/che…).

  • Also saw this deal in Adelaide (Mawson Lakes) so could be universal.

Possibly being cleared out due to non-compliant packaging?

    • at first glance these appear to be compliant

    • that's not how it works

    • No, Woolworths would face serious repercusions if they knowingly sold a product that could kill a child.

    • already in the excessive use of plastic packaging.

Damn. I thought it was a good buy when I bought these for $4 last week :-(

  • Would these be good for AirTags?

    • +1

You'll need the CR2032 for AirTags

    • Be careful it seems like Airtags are on the sensitive side for voltage drops which might trigger a low battery warning as soon as you replace it with a brand new poor quality coin battery.
You should also avoid Duracell ones because they also trigger the low voltage warning due to their child proof coating.
I also read that Duracell coins have a slightly different shape making them incompatible with airtags.

For anyone wondering about coin cells. Even the best manufactured ones are known to lose charge on the quicker side.

I would expect these cheap Chevron's to only have around half capacity left when opening the package, especially if they are clearing them out. This was confirmed by another user in a previous deal I think, they did not last long at all (in a medical device if I remember correctly).
In a common device it's not that much of a problem. But I would avoid them if you are going to use them in sensitive medical devices.

I read a post where a user from the US swears by the quality and longevity of the Energizer Ultimate Lithium CR2032's in the Blue packaging. They said they can only depend on those for their survival and medical electronics. You definitely pay for those though. My tip is to use your $10 JB perks coupon to get a pack of 2 for only $2.99.
If you don't have perks voucher and can't wait, Mitre10 has the 2 pack for $9.95 C&C.

    • check use by dates for how old they are ….energisers have the date printed on tha packaging, not sure about chevron ….

i usually get them from bunnings as they price match energiser so quick google.

      • "i usually get them from bunnings as they price match energiser so quick google."

Yeah I got some from bunnings a year ago when they were on clearance. The dates showed they were getting old.
Otherwise they wouldn't sell them for $3 a pack (I think they were Energizer reds).

    • My xioami zigbee motion sensors are still on their original coin batteries after four years. Day in day out usage still at 40%. Wonder what make they came with.

      • "My xioami zigbee motion sensors are still on their original coin batteries after four years."

It really depends on the energy consumption of the device they are in. I don't think the original coin batteries in your Motion sensors are particularly special, it's just that they sip power slowly so they go a long time without needing to be replaced.

  • Ordered on line. Do the job. I bought Energizers from Auspost for a lot more and one is dead out the packaging so give these a go

  • I assume these are on clearance as Woolies have started stocking “Quantum”. Their new branding for batteries. here
