I was searching for a decent Atmos soundbar and found this online. It's the 2021 run out version that's why it's on sale. The newer 990A version is very similat but $1,999 rrp.

    Q900A (7.1.2) is $543 with loyalty discount

if you don't want to fumble with rear speakers

yours Q950A is $713 with loyalty discount

  • I have this and it's amazing. Occasionally the subwoofer / rear speakers lose sync, so (at least) before every movie I just turn the sub off and on at the switch and it will resolve it easily.

    ATMOS shakes the walls

I used to have this problem but it went away when I upgraded the firmware to the latest version

Atmos doesn't shake walls. Bass doss.

    • +1

Lol. Its not atmos that shakes the wall. Do you kmow what you paid for?

  • OOS

  • Damn. Was waiting for a loyalty discount. I’m sure there’ll be more stock, as the promotion is listed to run until the end of March.

They don’t manufacture the 2021 version anymore, right?

      • Yeah, you’re right. I hadn’t realised it was so old. Looks like I missed out.

Soundbar is awesome, just watch out for shipping times from Samsung. Waited almost 9 1/2 weeks for mine with no tracking or any support from Samsung apart from "its shipped, the local courrier will call you to arrange delivery when it reaches their warehouse" then one day it just was left on the front door. Im in WA but have seen similar reports around.

  • Make sure to check dimensions will fit your TV cabinet (if your TV is on legs rather than wall mounted). The Samsung soundbar is quite deep and if your TV is a bit older and has an awkwardly angled set of legs, it won't fit! All the reviews would indicate the Samsung is the best bang for buck at the various price points in terms of quality/features/etc though!

    • Not about your TV's age, it's their design. Some are suited better to certain things. Many new model TV's aren't great either.

      • +1

True, I should've referenced Samsung specifically since our older 2017 Samsung 75" had awkward angles on long legs but newer models we've seen have straight stands or legs which are not as deep.

  • The newer 990A version is very similat but $1,999 rrp.

I got 990B 2 months, I believe that is the newer version.

    • +1

990B is the latest 2022 version which is about to be replaced with the 990C later this year

    • 990B regularly comes down around $1300. I had it at about $1100 before Christmas but wanted it below $1000. I’m happy to settle for 950A for around $700 with this promotion.

      • Got my 990B for 1200 back in August.

I had the 950A but was DOA. Samsung wouldn't allow a replacement or refund, would only repair it. Was a pretty poor experience, I had to submit a case to the Office of Fair Trading before they (finally, grudgingly) allowed the refund. Very frustrating.

    • The less samsung in my house the better. Too many products are engineered to be replaced before necessary (fridges, washing machines). I'd be ok with a sound bar though

    • That is rubbish. Did you pay with a credit card? Could have threatened charge back then?

  • Just out of curiosity, are there any features that are lost with Sammy soundbars if they are not connected to a Sammy TV?

  • Holy crap it's a steal at this price.

  • Can you get a loyalty discount on the swa-9500
    rear speakers?

    • +2

I picked them up for around $170 recently: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740118

Keep an eye out for that price to return.

      • Yeh I was unming and ahhing before it sold out and have been checking Samsung's site regularly ever since.

How do you find the rear speakers?

        • +4

How do you find the rear speakers?

They are usually at the back of the room boom tish

        • I don't notice them much watching shows and movies but for gaming they're great! Hearing where a sound is coming from is great for gaming, it's kinda surprising (in a good way) to hear something behind you.

My colleague was asking me if it was worth it for him to get rear speakers for his Arc but I don't think I'd pay the Sonos price to have rear speakers. It adds a bit but isn't essential.

      • It doesn't seem like they drop that low much, maybe about once a year?

  • Fantastic soundbar, highly recommended. Ripper price, paid $1099. Works nicely with Google TV plugged directly into the soundbar HDMI input.

PS thanks OP, still within 12 months so will have to put in a 28d Price protection claim.

  • I paid nearly 1300 for this speaker 2 years ago
