Garmin GPS - Free Speed Camera List

I have recently bought a new Garmin Drivesmart 65 Navigator. Now I am looking for a free speed camera POI data. Can someone advise where I can find the speed camera POIs? In the past I used poidb.com but it seems the site is not reachable anymore.

Use free Waze - it has everything.

Not just that, live updates including mobile speed traps, blockages, alternate routes etc…

      • I’ve never seen a “mobile speed trap” on there and I couldn’t see an option to report them. Although I don’t use it that often.

        • Idk about Melbourne but the wall-e ones in brisbane are very common up and down the coast.

Mobile speed trap are just reported as Visible Police on Waze. There hasn't been an option for mobile speed cameras for Waze yet.

          • @Phlume: Is that the generally accepted practice? I guess it is based on other comments, but I don’t think I’ve seen that happen in my area, police reports have always been bac testing.

        • I see them often, even in regional areas, very helpful.

Google maps now shows mobile speed cameras that are reported in waze, most likely will show fixed ones very soon too, considering they are merging both apps.

The apps aren't merging. Google and Waze are merging, but the apps will remain separate.

@KangaDrew: Until Google swings the axe on Waze like it does with everything else people like.

OP: "I bought standalone GPS unit, can you advise me of an add-on"

OzBargain: ignores OP's request and recent purchase and recommends something completely different and irrelevant to OP's request

      • But Waze is clearly a superior alternative, as Jimothy stated above, it includes much more than just fixed cameras. Does not cost anything and readily available from any mobile phone.

While I love Waze and find it more reliable than a standalone GPS, I believe what you are looking for is Overpass Turbo. Here is a direct link to speed cameras in Australia

If you export the GPX file, you should be able to upload it to your Garmin.

  • Thank you for Waze suggestions. @AusRetro: What is the best approach to upload a gpx file to Garmin 65? I tried uploading with Garmin Explore but it seems Garmin 65 is not supported.

    • Have you tried using the Garmin Drive app? That would be the one that is compatible with a car GPS.

      • Garmin Drive app was not useful. I managed to upload using POI Loader tool from Garmin. I haven't tested it yet.
