Or just use reusable bottles and drink perfectly good tap water!!

    Less landfill!

      • Get a filter?
We boil all of our water then filter it.

        • not even reverse osmosis gets out the heavy metal

        • I usually just boil my water. Does it make a difference to filter the already boiled water?

          • +1

@Jared17: Filter removes the larger particles ?

      • +2

Yep and watch out for those chem trails too!

      • -3

Let it be mate. Survival of the fittest is evident in the fact that some things can only truly be understood through experiencing them firsthand.
Also boiling/filtering water does not get rid of the added fluoride.

Meanwhile you’re drinking from the cheapest plastic bottles…

        • hilarious hey… the irony is lost on so many

    • +3

      yes!

Stop the plastic tide. The choices we make as individuals really do matter.

      • they arent going out and mining plastic. its a byproduct, so landfill or use

        • False. You have been misled. Use a search engine.

    • +2

Why would it go into landfill?
These bottles each have a 10c deposit on them.
Taking that into account these packs actually only have a net cost of $3 here in WA.

      • +3

Please tell me you realise plastic can't be infinitely recycled. It's downcycled 1-2 times before it becomes unusable and gets incinerated or sent to landfill. Recycling plastic is also not very energy efficient, produces pollutants and there is significant resource loss during the process. I'm not sure on the exact figures but it's a much smaller percentage than you'd think actually gets repurposed.

Reduce > Reuse > Recycle in that order for a reason.

Now I'm not going to instruct you on how to live your life, but being aware of the facts can help you make a more informed decision. You can buy plastic water bottles and reduce landfill in other ways (like recycling aluminium food cans for eg).

So long as I get my 10c.

    • Tap water tastes like sheet

  • +2

it shows $6.40. Still a great deal though.

    • +1

Added my Vic postcode in, prices drops to $5.40

  • +4

Really only $3 when you get you 10c back ber bottle.

  • +2

Damn,no stock. It hasn't this price in NSW since the return and earn scheme started.

    • +1

Miranda and blacktown is in stock but it’s too far for me

    • They are clearing stock. I saw this last night but didn't think it was an amazing price for a clearance price. Guess I was wrong.

      • +2

        Maybe expiry date is soon?

  • +1

Thank you for sharing this! I just got some from my local, there was only 9 in there though.

    • @NeverLoseSight I couldn't find any in WA in the app. Which store did you go?

      • +1

        @trixieb this was in Mirrabooka!

  • -1

    none available in NSW

    • +1

Yeah no stock here. Was just unhappy ordering online from Amazon before seeing this but turns out no matter.

Hopefully the franklin taste better than tap water I been drinking this past few days in my new home.

  • Armadale WA days in stock but none in store.

    • I've been caught out many times at different Big W with inaccurate stock.

      • Probably out the back. She said people steal it. Stealing water… hmmm

        • +1

Armadale now says out of stock. Stolen!

        • stealing bulking items….

  • +3

For all the people saying the net cost is $3, filling the same amount of water from your tap is 4c, even with usage charges, supply charges and everything on top, you'd be paying no more than 10c for the same volume of water and you get to save 24 plastic bottles from going to the landfill or wasted energy and time going to a recycling centre to claim back 10c a bottle.

    • +1

some people may be working outdoors, going to roadtrip with limited water access.

      • use those 10L jerry cans of water from woolworths or reusable bottles?

        • +2

you ever tried drinking from one? abit heavy

          • @Wiadro: I bet he got a long straw to suck

    • +1

If you go to a recycling centre outside Woolies while you're going shopping, you're wasting maybe 2 minutes of your life for $2.40? That's $72/hr. The energy to lift an empty bottle is virtually nothing.

The net cost is $3. That doesn't change just because an alternative method is cheaper. Sure, you pay more for convenience but since when has convenience ever been cheaper?

      • I get that convenience is expensive. I'm not trying to be high and mighty about this, I have paid extra for convenience myself but I try to be conscious as best as I can. My point is a little/negligible amount of inconvenience like refilling reusable bottles has far greater positive externalities.

        • +2

I think it's hard to judge someone on one particular thing they do without knowing the full story. They could be doing things you haven't thought of. My mother used to reuse these plastic water bottles and while I don't think that's encouraged, I'm still alive lol

      • +1

Too much effort. I just throw the plastic bottles out of my car window when I’ve finished drinking.

  • Bought 2x packs. Melbourne tap water tastes like shit. Even after filtering, the metal aftertaste still lingers.

    • You must live in an area with old pipes?

  • All out of stock around South Brisbane
