Looks like Woolworths have recently lowered the price on 600ml water, usually $9.50 now $8 (excluding TAS), Coles haven't yet matched it coming in at $8.25

Not bad when you consider $0.10 per bottle refund brings the total down to $5.60

I've put the deal as QLD as others might be different
This is $8 on mainland Australia, but is $10.50 in TAS due to Recycle Rewards

More expensive than tap water. No deal.

Good things taps are super portable !

These come as a convenience more than anything really

      • +9

We have some of the best, basically free and healthy drinking water on the - and yet people still insist on paying do pollute our country (and their bodies with microplastics) because 'more convenient'.

How does everyone not have half a dozen reusable bottles lying around anyway.

        • +3

…healthy drinking water on the -

Such suspense! Ending with a cliffhanger! waterfall!

        • +2

          something something PFAs? 0_0

        • -5

you're an idiot if you think that, you need to filter tap water with an 8 stage filter to get purity here for drinking. Some people won't have those kind of filters installed so they just buy water. With your logic we have cars that are still petrol and people insist they still need to buy petrol cars? do you think they are polluting the planet too? Are you one of those EV only nuts?

        • Talking to me like you've drank and tested water in Adelaide

      • +4

FIlled with the goodness of microplastics

        • How can you be sure the water you're using isn't coming from a pipe like this?

          • @jimojr: Assume house im living in as it's 40 years old would be like that. Have a benchtop filter but don't know what it would take out with pipes like that?

          • +1

            @jimojr: taste

          • +2

@jimojr: How can you be sure that the plastic water bottles having been sitting on a truck exposed to UV rays and heat for hours long ?

I live an apartment thats 5-8 years old, in addition i have water filters installed.

        • +1

thats why you get these https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Water-Instant-Capacity-Rec…

This will remove all the microplastics from your spring water and it will be pure.

    • +1

doesn't contain any of the chemicals you get with Tap water.

    • have you tried Adelaide water?

    • I hear Bear Grylls doesn’t pay anything when he’s dehydrated.

  • +11

Good deal but also worth considering taking your own whenever possible as micro-plastics become more into focus.

Additionally just the pollution cost of shipping and making them when just as clean water is piped to everyone's house for like a few dollars per 1000L and dont make evil companies even richer.

And filling up landfills, nature strip, or making plastic patches the size of Texas in ocean.

In June, the Trump administration announced plans to repeal all limits on greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants. In proposing the change, the EPA argues that pollution from U.S. power plants is a small part of global emissions and is declining. The agency claims eliminating climate pollution from these facilities would have little effect on people's health.
So basically, whatever we do is pointless.

    Thanks Gomo.

I think coles water tastes better than WW (at least for Sydney, bottling is different depending on location)

    • Second that

    • Agree

    • water tastes better

      Water has taste?

      TIL

      • It's not distilled water, so yes, it does have a taste.

      • +1

        r/water

(that one proZD video on yt)

    • Did a blind test on most non-premium bottle waters a few years ago. Coles water tasted the best.

      • Mount franklin still wins, but I think they've discontinued the 500mL bottles.

        • Mt Franklin is definitely out of non-premium price range.

          • @seriousquokka: It used to be $9.20 for 20 bottles, which isn't significantly much more than the $9.50 for 24 bottles (Yes it was 500ml vs 600ml, but you really just need portable water, 100ml less isnt going to be that much)

            • @ATangk: It can be a life or death situation in a desert

Used to be $6. Went up to to $9-10 during covid. Ridiculous

    • -3

blame the World health organization and the governments? We all got sucked into the covid BS, we all got controlled and we all allowed our free will to be taken. End of the day we only have ourselves to blame for allowing this to happen. Never trust the government they are looking to screw each and every one of us.

      • Yet private, profit making entities have our best interests at heart, of course.

        • Private entities own governments, they are the worst. The global elites run this world, no government has power.

      • How much has the price of foil risen since COVID?

  • +8

Glad that Tasmania are missing out. +1 for that.

  • +2

With the 10 cent rebates that were introduced after the water bottle prices skyrocketed a year or two back, this finally brings them back to the $6 they always were for a slab, just with a little more effort required!

  • +2

This is crazy… For bottled water. Who the f#$k made more bottles cheaper per litre 🤬

    Woolworths Spring Water
    6PK 1.5L 4.9$ -60c container rebate 4.3$ 9L 47.7c/L
    24PK 600ml 8$ -2.4$ container rebate 5.6$ 14.4L 38.8c/L

    Coles Spring Water
    8PK 1.5L 6.55$ -80c container rebate $5.75 12L 47.9c/L
    24PK 600ml 8.25$ -2.4$ container rebate 5.85$ 14.4L 40.6c/L

They both have their own 10L tankers which comes to 44c/L with no container rebate. Regardless less bottles should cost less.

If you have an Aldi near you, it's slightly cheaper ($7.59): https://www.aldi.com.au/product/northbrook-natural-australia…

    • I used to always buy Mount Franklin spring water, but now I can't find it cheap anywhere, so I've started buying Frantelle instead. I've never bought the Woolworths or Aldi ones, do they taste good?

      • +1

I hated Frantelle when I tried it, but you don't have location on so I'm not sure about local differences in bottling. Definitely do try each bottle but in Sydney, Coles water tastes most similar to Mount Franklin (but only 2/3 as sweet). In Brisbane, it all tastes like crap, WW or Coles.

    • +1

They must have dropped price also. I am sure this was $9 last week.

  • +1

    Pfess

  • Been getting regularly the Frantelle ones now from Amazon when it betweens 10-11$. Adding convenience even more and never looked back.

  • +1

Wouldn't it be better to use a water filter and metal bottles? You can reduce micro plastics intake by not using plastic bottles.

  • 7 Elevent sells 3-4 bucks a bottle

    Aldi water tastes better

  • Why Tasmania usually the water there's the best.

But nothing beats toothpaste, nice, cold water in winter from the copper pipe, instant free sprite.

  • The same people that have Stanley cups, drink bottled water, I am amazed at our generation (millennial here).

  • What are you poor saps buying this shite for,.,,…
Get yourself a water quality meter and test these bottled water. See for yourself its probably not much more than filtered tap water.

And you fools buy BIG CARS…. but would you buy a big WATER TANK?
    https://www.qtank.com.au/
No need to buy bottled water ever again. HINT BIG. BIG BLUE WATER FILTERS.

8ppm coming out of my taps. Well if it was 20degree coming out, anything below skews the measurements slightly. Lemon grass, rosemary and lemon tea with fresh honey from the hive. wooo hooray!
Coffee, woohoo no interference in flavour.

Irritable bowel syndrome, sore guts, upset guts through to MH issues at any give stage drinking the scum QUU town water.
Can't prove it, but evidence is the remaining reasonable living family members on rain water.

P.S I distilled the town water here once, FFS it still shit after 5-6 hours but the best and last it ever will be. The remaining turd of chemical contaminants in the boiler is the reason not to get reverse osmosis. Ongoing expense of bladders and filters and time to change them.

  • ALDI has it even cheaper ! $7.49
