Looks like Woolworths have recently lowered the price on 600ml water, usually $9.50 now $8 (excluding TAS), Coles haven't yet matched it coming in at $8.25

Not bad when you consider $0.10 per bottle refund brings the total down to $5.60

I've put the deal as QLD as others might be different
This is $8 on mainland Australia, but is $10.50 in TAS due to Recycle Rewards

More expensive than tap water. No deal.

    • Good things taps are super portable !

These come as a convenience more than anything really

      • We have some of the best, basically free and healthy drinking water on the - and yet people still insist on paying do pollute our country (and their bodies with microplastics) because 'more convenient'.

How does everyone not have half a dozen reusable bottles lying around anyway.

…healthy drinking water on the -

Such suspense! Ending with a cliffhanger! waterfall!

        • something something PFAs? 0_0

FIlled with the goodness of microplastics

How can you be sure the water you're using isn't coming from a pipe like this?

  • +6

Good deal but also worth considering taking your own whenever possible as micro-plastics become more into focus.

Additionally just the pollution cost of shipping and making them when just as clean water is piped to everyone's house for like a few dollars per 1000L and dont make evil companies even richer.

And filling up landfills, nature strip, or making plastic patches the size of Texas in ocean.

In June, the Trump administration announced plans to repeal all limits on greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants. In proposing the change, the EPA argues that pollution from U.S. power plants is a small part of global emissions and is declining. The agency claims eliminating climate pollution from these facilities would have little effect on people's health.
So basically, whatever we do is pointless.

I think coles water tastes better than WW (at least for Sydney, bottling is different depending on location)

    • Second that

    • Agree

    • water tastes better

      Water has taste?

      TIL

      • It's not distilled water, so yes, it does have a taste.

      • r/water

(that one proZD video on yt)

    • Did a blind test on most non-premium bottle waters a few years ago. Coles water tasted the best.

Used to be $6. Went up to to $9-10 during covid. Ridiculous

Glad that Tasmania are missing out. +1 for that.

With the 10 cent rebates that were introduced after the water bottle prices skyrocketed a year or two back, this finally brings them back to the $6 they always were for a slab, just with a little more effort required!

This is crazy… For bottled water. Who the f#$k made more bottles cheaper per litre 🤬

    Woolworths Spring Water
    6PK 1.5L 4.9$ -60c container rebate 4.3$ 9L 47.7c/L
    24PK 600ml 8$ -2.4$ container rebate 5.6$ 14.4L 38.8c/L

    Coles Spring Water
    8PK 1.5L 6.55$ -80c container rebate $5.75 12L 47.9c/L
    24PK 600ml 8.25$ -2.4$ container rebate 5.85$ 14.4L 40.6c/L

They both have their own 10L tankers which comes to 44c/L with no container rebate. Regardless less bottles should cost less.

If you have an Aldi near you, it's slightly cheaper ($7.59): https://www.aldi.com.au/product/northbrook-natural-australia…

    • I used to always buy Mount Franklin spring water, but now I can't find it cheap anywhere, so I've started buying Frantelle instead. I've never bought the Woolworths or Aldi ones, do they taste good?

    • They must have dropped price also. I am sure this was $9 last week.

  • Pfess

  • Been getting regularly the Frantelle ones now from Amazon when it betweens 10-11$. Adding convenience even more and never looked back.

  • Wouldn't it be better to use a water filter and metal bottles? You can reduce micro plastics intake by not using plastic bottles.
