Can you just not buy a dedicated point and shoot camera? The quality will be heaps better than most phones.

    Pixel 6a @ $599!

The 4k@60p with AI noise reduction rocks! And the image quality will beat any point and shoot at that price point ;)

    • Pixel 6a has 4k at 60p? That's amazing for a phone at that price point.

I was looking at the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion.

      • Go for the Pixel I'd say, they're known for their cameras for a reason

That's misleading. Their cameras are known for photography, not videography. Amongst phones, the general consensus is that iPhone is far ahead in videography.

The Pixel 6a's camera reputation largely comes from MKBHD's blind camera test in which it came first followed by the Pixel 7 Pro. But that test only tested photography and not videography. In MKBHD's annual smartphone awards, he gave the best camera set to the iPhone.

Not saying a Pixel won't be good enough for OP, depends on their use case and expectations.

@Nillionaire: You're not wrong, though OP does have a budget and it's not easy to come by iPhones in OP's price bracket.

The Pixel should still be sufficient, the videography won't be bad by any means. If it isn't enough for OP then they should be looking at a dedicated point and shoot

          • @Nillionaire: Any of the big Youtubers like MKB will always say iPhone is the best because they want the SEO. Watch MKB's alt channels and he'll start talking about how great other brands are and that's his true opinion of things.

            • @plmko:

iPhone is the best because they want the SEO

Explain how footage shot on an iPhone improves "Search Engine Optimisation"?

          • @Nillionaire: While this may be true.

            It's an iPhone.

      • The last two Edge 30's friends have bought have had over heating issues :/

  • I personally prefer Android, but own both an iPhone and Android phone. iPhones have much better video capabilities than Android.

Your best option is a used iPhone for 4k@60fps video recording. The iPhone 8 to current supports it. A used iPhone 11 or 11 Pro can be had for that price range. Make sure you get at least 128GB of storage, preferably 256GB. You can get a refurbished 11 for $650.
