Cheapest ever that I have seen for non refurb, new Australian-with-Seagate-warranty 18TB exos drive. GB does not count as it’s technically from HK though trustworthy from what I have seen.

If the extra two years warranty are worth it for you then I say go for it. Limit of 2 though 🤣🤣🤣

  • You need more than 2 if you wanted to run these in a decent RAID configuration. The 2 limit should be 4.

I don’t disagree but I think this would be decent for people needing spares with 18TB already?

    • +2

      Raid1 would be plenty acceptable!

16TB version currently 8% down on Amazon UK:

    $454.60 Seagate 16TB HDD Exos X16 7200 RPM 512e/4Kn SATA 6Gb/s 256MB Cache 3.5-Inch Enterprise Hard Drive (ST16000NM001G) https://amzn.asia/d/840ShKf

      So.. Amazon is worse

      ??

    • +3

At those prices even if you only needed 16TB, say for RAID, I'd get the 18's anyway.

    So very tempted.

  • Suitable for a plex server?

    • +4

For the storage side of the house, Put this bad boy into an enclosure and then plug it into a NVIDIA shield pro and you will have a lovely little plex machine.

      • The only thing is how do u transfer files after that?

        • +1

You can enable file sharing in the Shield’s settings and it appears like any other computer in your network.

  • suitable for NAS?

    • 7200 rpm might be overkill depending on your usage, but that is a first-world problem. Enterprise-grade drive with a 2.5 million hour MTBF rating is pretty comforting as is the long warranty.

    • They are very noisy so if it's in the same room as you and you care about noise, maybe not.

  • hmm tempting but can quite go full Oz bargain on it, still got 13tb left on my 4x8 tb raid 5

    • +2

I'm in a similar boat. Got 7 out of 8 drivebays full in my nas. All with 8tbs. To make this worth while I need to buy at least 4. And that's a lot to swallow considering i don't NEED the TBs right now.

      • +2

One major advantage of using storage pools, can add any sized drive and slowly update them

  • Local warranty is nice, but is Seagate easy to deal with?

  • +1

$26.06/Tb seems like a good deal for enterprise hdd.

  • Show $959 and no stock

  • +2

Ozbargained unfortunately, hope people who needed them managed to order a couple.

Managed to get 4. Thanks OP!
