Apologies to those that bought it from this deal. I had no idea it was going to drop again today.

    • +2

Message Amazon and they'll probably give you a credit to compensate for the price difference

      • +1

they'll probably give you a credit

        or not.

      • +1

nah they usually ask you to re-order and return the other - im sure it works out better for them that way still somehow

        • Guessing they rely on people deciding it's all too much hassle.

      • Bought the same watch a little over a year ago for $75 and shortly after it went down to $60.

Amazon would not give any credit for the price difference and actually suggested I return it and re-purchase at the cheaper price.
Incredibly wasteful but for $15 in my pocket and to stick it to Amazon it was worth the 2 minutes of my time to drop it in at the post office on the way past.

    • +8

Just talked to Amazon, they can issue credit for the price difference.

    • +1

Watches are free returns. So even if they don't let you cancel/price match. Just order it again and return the previous order.

  • +2

    With Afterglow

    😲

    • It's just a marketing term to describe how the light stays on for a few seconds after you release it.

Makes something that's normal and expected sound like a "feature".

  • Whats the battery life ?

    • +2

Comments online suggest the battery will last for 10 years or more depending how often you use the backlight.

    • +2

      2016.
mine had to get the battery replaced after 4 years of usage,

    • +2

Mine is at 10 years with original battery

    • +2

Also its super easy to change yourself. Dont pay $20 for a battery at a watch place.

Now I will have 3 G-shocks to collect dust whilst I wear my Swiss autos.

  • Probably unpopular opinion but…………are these not for small children and not grown adults?

AND JUST LIKE THAT I BOUGHT ONE!

    • Baby G, are for a smaller wrist. But this watch is pretty beefy, and many military personnel use them if that's a selling point.

this is a Casio 3230 and is a tad smaller and seems fine for me - https://i.imgur.com/1x6CvYZ.jpg

are these not for small children and not grown adults?

Lol - it's literally "Amazon's choice for men's watch". Hopefully you understand the engineering behind G-Shock watches.

    • i might look like a grown adult but i never said i was one

    • "are these not for small children and not grown adults?"

Not sure what you are trying to say. "not for small children AND not for grown adults?"
So are you asking is it for teenagers and young adults? (20 to 25 years?)

In a way yes. G-shock does some out there colour ways and wacky collaborations (I think the latest was with "Haribo" which is a gummy candy brand lol), so I think a lot of their range is marketed towards younger people.

      • Yeah my english sucks. Thought they were for kids. Ive been shown this is not the case and now its all ill ever buy.

        • "Thought they were for kids."

Most of them kind of are. At least I saw a lot of G-shock's on my friends wrists when I was a teenager.

But they always have at least 1 or 2 simple style colour of every model, so then it can appeal to grown adults who like the design (shape).

          "Yeah my english sucks."

No problem. By the way when I wrote "out there" in my previous comment, it basically means "weird".

  • currently $129 (normally $189) at Prouds.

I have a few GShocks - a mudman 9000 (late 2014), a second Mudman 9000 (Boxing Day 2021) purchased after I botched replacing the battery of the original Mudman lol. Long story short the first battery lasted almost 7 years, replaced it fine, except the battery was cheap and lasted mere months. I wrecked the watch the next attempt (it works, just cant change the time or date lol). Loved the watch so much I purchased it again.

I have both the black watch from this deal and the blue version (although it looks more purple to me, might be colour blind).

I also have the GD100GB black outer with the gold watch face. It looks great.

On the hunt for another GShock in the future.

    • "I have a few GShocks - a mudman 9000"

You mean the G9000 Mudman? How did you manage to botch the battery change? Genuinely curious because it's relatively simple (no module removal required).
Did you use metal tweezers and short the battery? Or did you place those metal tweezers on two parts of the module for a extended period?

Did you remember to perform AC reset after changing the battery as the instructions on the sticker inside say?

      • Nah just the buttons were already too hard to press in, now its impossible, gotta remember it was almost 7 years old at that point in time and my main watch. Happy to buy it again (and I did - nearlyv200 cheaper than I originally paid for it :P)

        • So you never took the centre of the watch out? (the module)
Just FYI if you do, before you put it back inside the case you need to push all the case button rods "out" from the inside first, then as you carefully push the module back in you should be using a small screwdriver to push the button contacts on the module inwards one by one as you push that corner in, this lets the actual button rod from the case sit properly on the module's button contacts.
This is demonstrated in the youtube videos of G-shock "battery replacement"/"disassembly" by those who know what they are doing.

But if you never removed the centre module, in that case I do know the G9000's buttons are harder to press to begin with, so maybe they wore or had some gunk stuck in the gaps which made them impossible to press.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: As I said I successfully changed the battery the first time around, second time it didn't go according to plan (the buttons were already hard to press). Doesn't matter as I'm happy with the replacement Mudman.

            • @hawktalk: "As I said I successfully changed the battery the first time around, second time it didn't go according to plan"

My bad. I read your comment as saying the battery change went wrong twice, once with both your G9000 Mudman's and that the button issue was a result of that battery change going wrong.

I was hoping to try save you from buying a third one 😅.

Anyway pretty sure one of the unique features of the G9000 is that the text on the watch face (button functions etc) all light up together with the LCD. So yeah at least if you like that part of it definitely Mudman G9000 is the only way to go for your next purchase 😁.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: Probably will buy a third when this one conks out (hopefully not for another 5 years lol).

  • $104 now? NO!

    • Stil $60 for me

      • It is for me when I open the link but add to cart takes it to $104 :( My dreams of being The Rock! dashed!

        • Spoke to soon, $82.92 for me now. So weird

          • +1

@rsop: yikes….even with the potato quality photo, you can see how filthy and gross it is. you'll never get it clean properly - and waste countless hours trying - so better to buy new.

            • @tdw: hahaha, I would offer them $30 and take it. You can clean them up well enough. But nothing would beat new

              • @rsop: there are so many little grooves and crannies in g-shocks. like, i spend enough time cleaning already lol. this particular one is cheap enough to buy new.

              • @rsop: I've used a cotton bud + nail polish remover to clean my watches. Basically come up as brand new once the gunk has gone.

        • just missed it too :(

          • @catbug: Back at $60 now, be quick before it goes up again!
