I own this watch & love it. The diameter is a bit smaller than most G-Shocks @43mm. Comments online suggest the battery will last for 10 years or more depending how often you use the backlight.

It looks better on as you can see in this pic of it on my wrist.

    • +6

Deep in thought as always, thinking of the next watch to purchase I presume?

    • +3

pic of it on my wrist

Better yet, here's an (earlier) video of you and said watch :)

    • +3

I have the same one. The battery lasted 5 years, I got it in late 2017.

The strap also fell apart. I replaced the strap with an orange plastic one, cheap $3 from AliExpress no problems.

Now I need to replace the battery.

      But I do love it.

      • +1

I often wonder if they sell off watches if the battery hasn't got much life left.

I bought an expensive Tissot watch and the battery only lasted 3 years, I put it in the top drawer and forgot about, until we got robbed and they took it but that's another story.

Then like a true OzBargainer, I next got a Citizen Eco-Drive watch from starbuy.com.au.

        • +2

Citizen Eco-Drive is the Toyota Landcruiser of watch movements. Love them.

        • +1

          I think you're 100% right.

Me too, I got a Eco-Drive, had it for longer and never missed a beat.

However, I'm changing the battery soon, YouTube makes it look easy and got good quality batteries for $2.95 on eBay. CR2016.

    • The blue light is awesome on this model. Really stands out and pretty even backlighting if I remember correctly.

Great watch, actually picked it up originally from this deal 10 years ago:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101374

    battery still works too!

  • -2

Why is this a deal? I saw it before for about $50 not long ago! See also price history…

    • unless im reading the 3 camels chart wrong for last 12 months it looks like $69 (nice) was the best price in 12 months?

(i would totally jump on this at $50 lol)

    • +3

If only we could use a time machine to go back 3 years and buy it for $59

    • There are a lot of these style of watch by Casio.

You might have seen a lower-spec model (less water resistance, or plastic watch face)

Edit: This one was $45, but it's not a G-Shock

    • I assume you mean this deal from a year ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/690917

      Shrinkflation?

  • +1

    Certified bargain

These watches are generally $119-$129 when on "sale" at places like Prouds, Angus & Coote, Bevilles etc.
And they're commonly $169-$199 at "normal" prices at those stores.

  • Looking for a gift for a 8 year old. Is this too big for a child?

    • +2

Yeah probably. Sanda do a small version of the Skmei 1134. Here it is for US$9.01 + GST

Make sure you select one that says women. It's still 43mm wide but the height is 34mm.
White is positive display, the other colours are negative which is harder to see.

      • Hi do you know how long does the battery last on these?

        • +3

I don't know what battery they are using, but it's not hard to replace. There are 4 small screws on the back.
Edit - Just had another look, they have a Maxell battery so it should last a while.

These are awesome watches. If you want the larger version I'd recommend to buy it from Kmart because you get an Aus 12 month warranty - $15.00.

        "Yeah probably."

I think it's fine for a bigger kid or a young teenager. Not this exact model, but I saw a slightly larger model quite often on friends wrists when I was younger.
6900 series I think with the 3 dials which is 53.2 × 50 × 18.7 mm. And yeah it looks big, but kids love that (I think they also like the 3 dials).

        The DW9052 is noticeably more compact 48.5 × 43 × 14.7 mm.

May I recommend the independent iconic casio f91w? Turns out that it's the perfect size for my 7 year old daughter, it's a great watch, water resistant, and disposable enough that it's not a huge loss if it's lost.

      • The Sanda is actually more durable for a kid, it has a recessed resin lens + EL backlight.

      • I recently got the slightly larger W917H for $50 just to practice performing mods on. Some say it is the spiritual successor to the F-91W with larger display and digits.
        F-91W - 38.2 × 35.2 × 8.5 mm
        W217H - 43.1 × 41.2 × 10.5 mm

Anyway I can confirm the W917H looks comically small on my wrist, I can't wear it because it looks so funny lol.

Buy now, by the time child grows into it, battery will probably still work

SOLD OUT - PIQUE BOUGHT THEM ALL FOR SHAKIRA!

    • Explain the joke?

      • +1

        Google Casio and Shakira

    • Hi this is Shakira, can I take your order?

Yes I would like to order a Revenge Breakup.

  • +1

Great watch, but I’d pay a bit more for one of the classic G-Shock square watches that comes with Bluetooth and/or solar power. There is also loads of cases and bands you can swap out, so great for customising.

If I hadn’t bought the new casioak recently, that’s what I would buy.
