[VIC] Free Rapid Antigen Test Kits at Local Council, 2 Packs of 5 RAT Kits Per Person

1730

Council program

You should have RATs at home in case you need to test for COVID-19.

Most local councils in Victoria are offering free RATs. Everyone can get up to 2 packs of 5 RATs per person, and up 2 packs for each household member. People with disability and their carers can get 20 free tests.

Contact your local council to find out where you can get RAT tests. You do not need to be a resident in the council area in which you are collecting tests. You can collect RATs as many times as you need. If you run out of RATs, you can collect more to make sure you are prepared.

You should not go to a council site if you have COVID symptoms.

Free RATs are also available at some community health organisations and private pathology centres.

Visit Get a COVID-19 test for information on local councils, community health organisations and private pathology centres.

Saw this on the news today.
Starting from today, every Victorian can get 10 RAT kits a time, as many time as you need.
Schools will stop handing them out.
Please only get what you need.

Nothing like a COVID post anywhere on the internet to attract all the nuffies who'll proceed to have conversations with themselves as no one else listens to them in the real world.

    Good job Victoria.

If your'e lucky enough to live somewhere that didnt completely ruin your life for 2 years then count your blessings.

      • +7

        Yeah, 'live' being the keyword.

Remember the 800 or so deaths in a hurry in the first long lockdown?

Where the Nursing homes were all but wiped out?

Remember those? I sure as (profanity) do.

        • -1

I dont live in a nursing home, or work in one, or ever visit one, or even know anyone who does any of those. Even more died in aged care after it was "ok" for Covid to circulate. Also there was no above average deaths in Victoria in the second half of 2020 when these so dramatic "800 deaths" occurred.

And that was second lockdown not the first.

@jmc787: I think I've learnt enough over the last 2 years than to waste my time talking with someone like you. You are predictable as it gets. All the same. All me me me.

            Goodbye.

          • +3

@jmc787: Your comments stinks of ignorance. If it's not happening to me, then it must not exist. Right?

Of course more died once it was allowed to circulate. That is the exact reason that it was suppressed in the first instance.

Covid only kills about 1/100 80 plus year olds who have a tendency to die anyways. 90% have comorbidities on the death certificate, only 10% of covid deaths due to respiratory failure apparently.

@aeolian: Don't upset the fragile Covidians with facts and logic now.

Some day they will notice that their cheerleaders have all gone completely silent and are busy either walking back, hiding or minimising their rabid Covid fanaticism.

          • @aeolian: So why were entire aged care facilities wiped? I know of one person surviving in one. Only one.

            • +1

@scuderiarmani: poor management and leadership, aged care should have been handled much better.

              • +1

@mlburnian: That's besides the point, it was saying that it only kills 1/100 which is grossly untrue

But I do 100% agree with you

        • @scuderiarmani I haven’t heard of aged care facilities being wiped out by Covid, please provide the reference. Here’s the official figures, deaths per 100k https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gqWEERL9z6-5QLnlQuDGcKyR6YO…

          • +1

@aeolian: You are the Google expert, perhaps it'll give you something to do.

            Not wasting my time.

  • But where are they free in Qld?

  • +1

I don't have room for any more of these, staff at the kids primary school would lug a carton of them around weekly at pick up time almost pleading for us to take them, they're landfill..

  • So was I deeply entrenched in capitalism when I was paying $43 for 3x RATs during the height of the pandemic?

    • +1

Supply was much lower then. They've been able to churn these babies out lately, since all the manufacturing process is in place. Means cheaper price. That being said you could usually get lower price than $43 for 3 on the internet, unless you needed them urgently.

Just woke up with a sore throat, this could be helpful.

    • i have been having sore throat with sharp pain when swallowing food and water. Tested with RAT twice and came back negative. I am 100% i have covid.

      • In fairness, those symptoms could happen before covid was a thing.
Have you tried other brands? Try again tomorrow, you might get a different result.

    • They’re not strepsils

      • Strepsils don't even do anything - they're a bandaid solution at best.

        • Of course strepsils don't work when you chew on them like candy

        • Easier than honey solution, when out & about

  • Thank you for your service OP. Also shared with my Team at work.
I guess no more RAT deals for VIC, we will say it is available for free.

  • -8

Not free, cost Australian billions and recession. Stop spreading fear.

    • +2

Checks ☝️ comment history. Yep enough said.

      • dO yOuR rEsEaRcH hurr durr

  • -2

Take them so you can put them in the bin where they belong.

  • +1

Yes 'free', but we already paid for these, and this is the State Government getting rid of their stockpiles.

    Deal? I guess so 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Thanks OP I collected 4 boxes of tests from Greater Dandenong Council without any issues today - 2 boxes per person.

    • What did you have to show to get them? Driver's license?

    • What's the expiry date…. 2023 or 2024
