Cadenhead Original Collection Heaven Hill 12yo American Bourbon $189 Delivered @ The Odd Whisky Coy

61

Cadenhead is reputable independent bottler.

Heaven Hill is a good distillery who makes Rittenhouse, Pikesville, Elijah Craig, Parker's Heritage, Evan Williams etc.

A bourbon with a 12 year old age statement is not common.

46% ABV is not bad.

The mashbill is 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley. So it's a wheater if that's what you're into.

$189 shipped is pretty good in todays market; for example Weller 12, which is also a wheater (undisclosed mashbill) is $400+, and William Larue Weller is about $3k.

Indies are always a gamble, but this is a gamble I'm willing to take.

  • Conehead?

    • Great movie. Anyway, do you like wheaters? What are you drinking now? Do you have any recommendations? Any deals?

  • This is ridiculously overpriced for a gamble.

Wild Turkey Russel's Reserve (10 year) is $74.

Comparison to Buffalo trace products is unrepresentative. Anyone knowledgeable of bourbon wouldn't use these as the comparable.

This post also sounds like a sock puppeter.

    • My favourite cheap bourbon is WT101. Russels Reserve is $74 and worse than WT101 with no age statement. Also, Wild Turkey is a rye-forward bourbon, no wheat.

I compared this to the wheater that came to mind, which is Weller. Go on, find me a 12 year old wheater for under $200.

Yes, please report me for sock-puppeting.

  • Doesnt seem like any sort of deal when the Cadenhead are the only US bourbons not on sale. And $174 delivered from whiskey Galore in NZ inc $44!! Postage.

    • Sorry, I don't follow. Can you explain this bit:

Cadenhead are the only US bourbons not on sale

Yes, I've bought plenty of whisky from Whisky Galore, especially since our dollar is always stronger. I don't post international alcohol deals because even though I've had very good luck in the past, there is a chance your package will get snagged by customs and then you have to pay duty and GST and also bs fees from the courier. I have imported well over 500 bottles over the past 15 years.
