Tenda Beli SP15 Smart Wi-Fi Powerboard $19 + Postage ($0 C&C) @ Umart

110

I was browsing UMART because I have the Amex offer (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/745082)

Placed an order last week and C&C yesterday.
Just tested this out and seems fine for the money - wifi connected, dumb devices worked fine.

Have not got it to integrate with Google Home yet (have not tried yet).

I bought this to help me get to the $300 threshold :)

YMMV.

Have the amex offer but struggle to buy anything worthwhile. This is useful but it won't reach min spend for amex and buying this alone
isn't worth it for shipping cost

  • I don’t have any home automation stuff yet. I’m curious, do most things like this (power boards, sockets, lights, garage door sensors, etc.) require their own branded app to function?

In other words, would I end up with a load of different brands’ apps on my phone to communicate with the devices? Or is that just initial setup, then I could control everything from one common home interface or something…

    • Generally speaking each different brand of smart device will have it's own brand app to register that device to your wifi network (For example a Kogan Smart Light Bulb will use the Kogan Smarterhome App), once it is added to your network it can be easily controlled using one primary interface such as Google Home where you can then set up a name for the device that you will verbally call it, as well as set schedules and other routines.

A lot of the stuff is Tuya-based (not Philips Hue). Even though most have their own app, if it is Tuya-based you can just use that as your app. I have brilliant smart, Lenovo, and some unbranded stuff from Aliexpress including an IR blaster and Garage controller which all work on the one app. I also have them in Google Home to make it easier to control and activate.

  • Thx I get one.
