  • What's the difference between A6 and A7?

    • +13

      A1

      • Unsure but I don't think the a7 is 58". 55 and 65 only.

    • From what I can tell the A7 has Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and the A6 only has Dolby Vision, also the A6 range is the only one with a 58" screen size.

      I've been wondering too

We’ll pick an example from the Hisense 2021 line-up: 55A9GTUK.
      Let’s break it down:

      • 55 = screen size, in inches
      • A = Product line
      • 9 = Product tier. Note: single numbers denote high-end models, whereas double numbers represent the model’s position in the hierarchy, counting downwards.
      • G = Year, ‘G’ representing 2021
      • Q = Quantum Dot Colour Technology
      • TUK = Sale region

Also: The A7G still possesses quantum dot tech, while the A6G is a standard 4K LCD. You'll find support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 on both, plus enhanced audio through Dolby Atmos on the A7G and DTS:X on the A6G.

$585 at VideoPro too, not sure whether they price match but no membership required

    • But unless you can pickup around brisbane, shipping kills it ($100+)

      • +2

One is pickup from Hamilton, the other is pickup from North Lakes. Much of a muchness.

  • Have Hisense TV's improved much over the last 5 years? I bought a 40K3300UW a few years back and the picture quality is terrible. I ended up buying and older Samsung 46 inch tv off Gumtree and moved the Hisense out on the deck because it was so bad.
    Hisense or TCL?

    • +1

If Hisense, get a A7 not an A6, or U7. But since you're considering TCL you probably have a low budget. You get what you pay for

      • +1

Interesting, I thought TCL had a better reputation than Hisense even though they are fairly new to Australia in the TV market

        • +1

If I recall correctly, TCL were trotting out products using the same model numbers as US versions but with downgraded panels in other markets.
You are better off sticking with the Samsung and LG secondhand market I reckon just make sure you have buyer protection or see something running to check for burn in.

          • +1

@Alcaro: Second hand - buyer protection? Not sure that's compatible.
Hisense A7 or U8 series is decent. Wouldn't buy OP tho

            • +1

@ShouldIBuyIt: You would be surprised at the protection offered by PayPal. They'd shakedown your gran if she lied about burn in or stuck pixels.

          • @Alcaro: I know Hisense does exactly this but not sure about TCL.
I was hyped with Hisense U8H until I learned that it's completely different display panel (unclear number of dimming zones compared to US version), shitty remote and Vidaa OS rather than Google TV OS.

    • I'd choose TCL over Hisense for near price, since TCL also operates brands like Toshiba and FFalcon with more tech features and wider products range.
btw 58 inch seems a size of previous panel product line, only 55 65 75 moving forward.

The picture on the screen seems a little suss

  • Bought this boxing day from ebay. Edge lit so has a lot of light around the screen quite off putting to be honest. Budget tv

    • I bought this tv few days ago and also notice this light issue around the screen edge! It is obvious when the screen display in light colour. Does it a defect? Or is it normal in budget tv?

      • I notice it on light and dark scenes. Unfortunately i think this is "normal "

        • Thanks for sharing! I am still thinking should I return it…..

          • @pcwa218: Same but then buy what? Really want the tcl 835 mini led but cannot justify the extra

    • Same.
Kinda regret not getting the Philips 50inch 4k that was going for $595 at the same time too.
It seems to hover on bad-average most days. Ah well, learnt the hard way…

  • Hisense is an entry to mid level tv with normally good pq. Screen size 58inch tv size is odd. Is this the same TV aldi time to sell as 58inch. is Aldi one is rebranded of hisense?

    • Hisense is "an entry to mid level tv"? lmao

      Check hisense' U line.

      • And their L line. They are leading the UST laser TV segment.

  • Think these are the closest settings if anyone needs them.
