Need Help Choosing The Better Washing Machine with This Budget

I've narrowed down to these two:

AEG 8kg 8000 Series Front Load Washing Machine (LF8C8412A ) $1899
Bosch 10kg Series 8 Front Load Washing Machine (WAX32M4) $1849

Happy to hear consider suggestions under $2k

  • If you are happy to do a little extra work, go down to the public library and see if they have a subscription to Choice magazine which will give more detailed analysis of WM's (maybe not these 2).

For the price that you are paying, you might want to check out Miele

There is a promo right now

  • As someone who owns a mid tier bosch washer and dryer (seperate appliances), I will be buying absolutely any other brand once this set totally packs it in.

    • Which particular models?

      German made?

      • Not German made

Dryer is WTW87565AU serie 8 I think it was about 1500. At the time

Washer is serie 6 but can’t find exact model but i think I paid close to 1k

Dryer was the one was that really giving me dramas, I fixed it myself though after pulling it all apart and putting it back together. Has been okay since then.

        • We just bought a 8kg series 6, made in Turkey to replace our recently deceased 17 year old made in Thailand 6.5kg Bosch. Fingers crossed. I found the model OP is shopping had no real advantage over the one we bought even though it was 50%more to buy
          .

        • I really think Bosch has 2 lines-
          - great models made in Germany, Series 8 and some Series 6.
          - OK models not made in Germany, Series 2, 4 and some Series 6.

With Bosch Series 2 & 4, you may as well buy another brand.

    • I have a 9kg (German made) Bosch, and haven’t had a problem with it

    Bosch
    Bosch
    or
    Bosch

    • With Op being in Melbourne it helps.
We used to work with Bosch as a partner and it was the best company business relationship.

  • People keep saying bosch.

I used to repair front loader washing machines as a serious hobby.

Bosch was a common machine I'd see.

    Personally I'd not buy one.

If i were to replace my current washing machine (haier) then I'd go for an older Miele (absolute beasts) or Asko or LG.

    • I’d probably go the 14kg LG myself but maybe the reason why you saw so many Bosch’s is that they sell so many of them

    • Currently in the marker for a new machine. Any recommendations? Family of 6. Sub $1000 preferably. Not fussed on front or top loader.

Doesn't have to be the largest machine. Don't mind washing every day or 2.

    • My trusty Miele beast failed for the first time in 30+ years, replaced with a sharply-priced ex-demo model from the Miele outlet.

      • curious, was that on their ebay store or did you just wander into the outlet and they had it there?

        • I got lucky as they had one on-hand when I went in (Brisbane). There were three ex-demo washers all with different run times. Different story when I needed an XXL DW, put my name on the wait list and didn't receive any calls, but found one on the floor when I visited - which they said had just arrived

  • Look at a Panasonic Econavi front loader.
