  • Thanks OP. Bought one. Been looking for a deal for this tent

  • Fantastic deal.

This is a great tent - got one of these last year for camping (from tentworld in WA) and it's a nice layout and a well made tent. The darkroom tech means you can sleep in and not have the light coming through. Internal LED lights can be powered by a usb powerbank easily - or if you're on a powered sight just a usb charger will do.

I've taken mine on trips to Busselton and Pemberton already and it has served us (2 adults, 2 kids) well!

    • I have the 4p still in its box ready for next trip. How did you find the flooring, it’s supposed to be better then that crinkly crap we’ve had for last 50years

    • Not overkill for 4 people? How long does it take you to set this up?

      • Should be very quick. Snowys.com.au have great reviews were the show features in one and setup pack down in the other.
I have the 4p version for just me. I have other tents depending on the situation but this is my new one for long trips over summer where I want to be able to stand up inside.
From what I can see it would probably fit 2-3 comfortably, and 4 if you all spoon.

      • Plenty of room for a family of 4, our middle section is where we dump all our cloths and camping cookware leaving the 2 sides for beds

In terms of setting up, it's fairly painless for 2 people for this particular model. You won't achieve whatever they show on YT but it's all done and dusted in 30 mins including pegging the tent down in good weather.

Make sure you buy a ground sheet to protect the base of the tent.

Lastly this feels every bit of 33kg so you will need a 2nd person to help setup and packing it up.

        • I have the 6p and it's relatively easy but pegging and unpegging the fly (and rolling up the guy ropes) is time consuming. The 10p appears to have 2x as many 😱

          • @bargainshooter: Pegging is the most important part, I learnt my lessons with my first tent but then no 'fast frame' tents with high ceiling would have survive high winds in the depths of winter.

Nowadays I carry almost too much pegs and ropes to try mitigate the risk of no roof in the middle of the night! haha

            • @Speedz: Likewise! I have a tool bag with dozens of heavy duty pegs, extra ropes, mallets, glow in the dark things for the ropes. Keeps it neat 🤣

  • How does this compare to Instant Up Gold 10P Tent? At snowy for $411 currently.

No dark room lining on the fly.

    • Dark room is great the coating is on the fly so it's noticeably heavier than the Gold series.

With all the fly zipped down it's pretty dark inside even during peak noon, dark enough with the need to turn on the lights to look for belongings.

  • What's wrong with cheaper tents?

I recently picked up the Aldi 10P tent. Wondering if I should return and get this….

    • Are you asking whats wrong with having ford when someone is offering you Mercedes for little extra?

    • I would return and get this. Best 10p tent out there. Easy to setup (15mins from start to finish one person). And the dark light is great in the morning so the tent is t fully lit at 5am during summer when sunrise is.
Size wise.. can fit an inflatable queen in each room. We have bedrooms setup at either end and middle room is for clothes etc..

    • Yes please don't cheap out on a tent. Suggest returning the Aldi one and getting this instead. We have had the worst experience at our last camping trip because of a cheap tent that we took with us.

    • My friend forgot his swag poles and was lucky enough h to pick up the (6p or 10p, can’t remember which) Aldi tent so that he didn’t have to give up and go home. It was my first experience with a instant up tent and it’s actually not bad quality. Depending on how often you go it’s not a bad choice, but this one would be much higher quality, with a lot more features.
I found my swag too hard to pack up all the time, so have been using a small stretcher tent which I love but doesn’t leave enough room for clothes etc. I now own the 4p darkroom and a tri-fold mattress which I will use for trips longer then a day or two.

    • The floor will be rubbish and noisy compared to this. Like cheap tarp material vs a smooth pvc floor.

Weather resistance will be much higher. Less chance of water ingress or the tent falling apart under heavy rain or winds.

Dark room tech is great if you don't want to be woken up at 5am when the sun blasts through thin tent material.

  • Really good tent, I've posted a few times about it.
You can't go wrong at this price.

  • How's this one compare to this $399.

Instant dark room 8p, not "north star" branded

Family of 4, two kids only 6 and 4 yrs old. Maybe a dog as well

    https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/tents/family-t…

    • Your annoying chihuahua will be sleeping outside the tent

    • The 10P is a really big tent - lots of space but it's heavy (33kg vs 19kg in your link). I've got the 10p Gold (not the Darkroom) but that 8P looks more appealing in terms of weight/size for weekend trips. If you're staying longer then the extra space in the 10P might be worthwhile.

    • Not gold - so the floor will be considerably less pleasant (more like a cheap tarp than PVC). Quality of the fabric will be lower.

  • Any experience between this and the OZtrail Fast Frame Lumos Integrated Lighting 10 Person Tent? The oztrail appears to have full awnings both front and back?
