  • Anyone know if u can use myer giftcards for stores inside of myer?

    • Like Sunglass Hut and Mecca? Yes

      • I was thinking more like gucci

        • The only Gucci Myer sell is beauty and sunglasses and probably jewellery? I don't recall them selling bags (that's David Jones).

    For anyone wondering:

    • The gift card in this deal is only redeemable at Myer (instore and online). It is not to be confused with the Coles Group & Myer gift card (which is redeemable at a number of businesses, including Coles and Myer).

    • Coles only sells $50 and $100 Myer gift cards.

    • The version of Myer gift cards sold at Coles is different to the versions sold at other third-party retailers (e.g. Woolworths, Target) and Myer itself, so there is no point stealing a $200 Myer gift card from another retailer and then trying to purchase it at Coles and hoping you get the 15% bonus loaded onto it.

    • Any gift cards redeemable at Myer (including the one in this deal, Coles Group & Myer gift cards and gift cards / vouchers sent from Myer One) will invalidate cashback via Cashrewards or Shopback.

    • If anyone was wondering whether this gift card can be used to purchase any gift cards at Myer, the answer is good luck.

    • Hey WookieMonster

Just came back from my local Coles. They have the $200 Myer gift cards on the rack. So not sure if something has changed? Forgot to take a photo, but I'll upload tomorrow.

      • I'd be interested to see whether it is actually possible to purchase it.

When the last bonus value deal on Myer gift cards was run at Coles, I actually saw a solitary $200 Myer gift card on the gift card shelf, but when I went to scan it at a checkout (out of curiosity), I got an error message saying that the product could not be found.

  • can i use them to buy at myer marketplace like Koalaliving… following link https://www.myer.com.au/p/koala-living-pre-order-vogue-3-sea…

    makes a decent discount

    • +1

this is sold by myer, regardless of it being sent by koala. So I would certainly hope so. PS its niiice.

    • +1

      Yes

    • As long as you can buy online. Just keep in mind there's a limit how many gift cards you can use in one order.(correct me if untrue)

    • How do you buy furniture online esp for that price range? Don’t you need to see it irl first? The colour in different lighting and how it feels to sit in it, aren’t these important factors?

    • +1

No… not for the full $1,799 asking price, anyway.

You can only redeem a maximum of 9 Myer gift cards in one online transaction. Considering this deal is for Myer gift cards sold at Coles, you can only purchase $50 and $100 denominations, so the most you can redeem on the Myer online store using gift cards through this deal is $1,035. You can pay the remaining amount owed on the website using a different payment method (e.g. credit/debit card).

You can have a go trying to get Myer to consolidate multiple small-denomination gift cards into one large-denomination gift card, but good luck finding someone who will let you do that, because it is explicitly against the Myer gift card terms and conditions to attempt to use a Myer gift card to purchase a Myer gift card (or other tender).

      • Hi WookieMonster,
I know you are very knowledgeable in gift cards. However, from my personal experience in 2021, my friend went to a Myer service desk in Chadstone shoppoing centre in Melbourne and consolidated small denominations of Myer gift cards into larger ones as she was going to buy an iPhone there. PS: I was with her during all the process. And she didn’t try to just purchase gift cards from gift cards.

        • I do realise that in 3.7 of the terms and conditions it says you cannot change for different denominations. Maybe it is updated after 2021. So check with the service desk whether you can still do this before purchasing.

        • +1

Are you sure this was in 2021? Myer stopped selling Apple products in 2019 (and I distinctly remember going into a Myer store in 2019 to see what Apple products were on clearance).

The reason I said good luck in my comment above is that the Myer checkout system should let customers pay for a gift card using a gift card, but you have to find a staff member who is happy to do that.

When I asked three different Myer stores late last year whether I could consolidate multiple small-denomination gift cards into one larger gift card for use on the online store:

          • Staff at the first two stores effectively said “no, it is against store policy”

          • A staff member at the third store said, “our store manager got a directive from head office recently reminding us to stop customers from using gift cards to purchase gift cards.”

Also, a quick check of archive.org shows that back in 2019, it was against the terms and conditions of the Myer gift card to use it to purchase any gift cards.

In regards to in your friend’s situation, it is likely that the staff member did not know about this restriction (or did not care enough to enforce it).

  • Can I ask how you managed to see next week's catalogue ahead of release (usually Monday 5pm I'm pretty sure)
I've got a feeling there's an easy answer that's common knowledge to this question but I'll be damned if I can find it lol
    Thanks ahead of time

It’s a photo of the catalogue, safe to assume op has access to the physical copies. I’ve had housemates who worked for the catalogue distributors, they get them sooner than Monday 5pm.

If you search for Best Aussie Markdowns on Facebook they usually post the Coles catalog on the Sunday night :)

  • Hi guys,

New in Australia and trying to get my head around the points and discounts game down under, so a bit of a newbie question:

Buying these GC at Coles will also generate flybuys points, correct?

    Cheers

    • Yes, you do earn flybuy points on purchasing gift cards at coles

    • +3

There are two types of gift cards sold at Coles:

      • Gift cards issued by Coles Group (which is the company that owns Coles)

      • Third-party gift cards (i.e. gift cards not issued by Coles Group)

      At Coles:

      • You will not earn any Flybuys points when purchasing gift cards issued by Coles Group.

      • You will earn standard Flybuys points (i.e. 1x point per $1 spent) when purchasing third-party gift cards. Myer gift cards are issued by Myer, so it will earn 1x Flybuys point per $1 spent.

Purchases of any gift cards will not count towards any bonus Flybuys unless there is a promotion specifically saying that the purchase of a particular gift card will earn bonus Flybuys points. For example:

      • You may receive via email a generic bonus points offers (e.g. earn 2,000 bonus Flybuys points when spending $50 or more in one transaction at Coles, 3x points on your biggest transaction at Coles). These kinds of offers will exclude purchases of any gift cards.

      • You may see in a Coles catalogue an offer where you can earn 2,000 bonus Flybuys points when spending $50 or more on selected gift cards. These offers will earn both standard Flybuys points (1x point per $1 spent) and the bonus Flybuys points outlined in the offer.

      • Can one buy Myer gift cards with coles gift cards?(prezzie)

        • +1

You cannot use Coles Groceries gift cards. You’ll get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you scan the Coles Groceries gift card's barcode.

I'm not sure whether regular Coles gift cards work.

      • +1

Thanks for such a detailed answer, @wookieMonster.

        I appreciate it.

  • If I’m not mistaken, no need to present Flybuys to access this promo?

    • +1

You are not mistaken. This gift card promotion has nothing to do with Flybuys.

      • +2

Excellent, thanks WM and for all your helpful posts, much appreciated

      • Given this, if you don't care about the 500 FB points and therefore don't scan your FB card, I am assuming "Limit 5 gift cards per customer" can be read as "Limit 5 gift cards per transaction", as there would be no way to confirm if you have purchased any cards previously?

        • If you use the same prepaid/credit/debit card across multiple transactions, Coles can see that the same card is being used across multiple transactions, so they can presume the same person is purchasing more than 5 gift cards across multiple transactions (and therefore breaching the terms and conditions of this deal).

Whether Coles (at least head office) actually cares about this enough to take action is a very different question. The 5 gift card limit is more relevant for store staff, tbh.

  • Hey, i just tried buying this card and there wasn’t a 15% off the stated card value. So will it be topped up to $115 for a $100 card? It doesn’t explain that anywhere and Myer will laugh me out of their store if I try to claim an extra $15 when the card literally has $100 stamped on it. They won’t care/don’t know about this Coles promo

Hey, i just tried buying this card and there wasn’t a 15% off the stated card value.

This gift card deal is not a 15% off deal, because it never said that anywhere in the image from the catalogue.

So will it be topped up to $115 for a $100 card? It doesn’t explain that anywhere

That’s right, this is a bonus value promotion, not a discount promotion.

It says in the image twice (and in large bold text) that the deal is for 15% bonus value. I’m not sure what else bonus value means, especially since Coles advertises upfront discount deals (such as the current 15% off $20 Apple gift card deal) as 15% off, not 15% bonus value.

Myer will laugh me out of their store if I try to claim an extra $15 when the card literally has $100 stamped on it.

All the times I have used gift cards to make purchases at Myer, when I have asked to use multiple gift cards, the staff members have always how much I want to redeem from each gift card. I have not had one staff member ever ask to look at the face value of the gift card. That also means it is up to you to tell the staff member that you want to redeem $115 from your $100 Myer gift card (as an example).

Considering that Myer runs bonus value promotions at Coles and Woolworths a few times a year, it is likely that the staff member serving you would be aware that this kind of promotion occasionally happens.

Of course, you may one day run into a staff member who has no idea that these promotions happen at all and thinks you are delusional for suggesting that a gift card can have more value than the face value on the gift card itself, but you could always get around this by checking the gift card balance on your device and showing the balance of the actual gift card to the staff member.

  • Thanks. I got two $200 myer cards and the bonus were confirmed.
