  • how does this compare to other such as Samsung & WD SN770/SN850 etc?

I'm not hugely well-versed and am sure someone will go into better detail but on the high-level the WD is faster in sequential read/writes (MB/s)
      P3 Plus 2Tb 5000 read/ 4200 write
      SN770 5150 read/ 4850 write
      SN850 7000 read/ 5100 write

In reality any of those speeds will absolutely be snappy, hell even 500 MB/s can be plenty for a normal user.
Only the SN850 would make Sony's official spec for PS5, but those are crazy.

Samsung is usually always the best, they have DRAM and usually are relatively quick with high endurance, the main problem is that they're expensive. Both WD SN770/SN850 and crucial are really good drives that are relatively quick as the other person pointed out, it is important to point out that these don't have DRAM cache and hence are cheaper compared to Samsung, however this seems pretty irrelevant with NVMe drives (from what I read). The Crucial SSD is QLC, whereas the other's are TLC which is usually better, but it's hard to quantify how much "better" they are.

This is a helpful document for comparing the major specifications: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1B27_j9NDPU3cNlj2HKcr…

I don't understand why the rating is so low in this deal. I thought its the best price I have seen so far.

I bought this 3 weeks ago from Amazon US and I’ve had nothing but problems with it.
I had the P1 which has been awesome and this has lasted me 4 years or so with no problem.

Regarding my P3 plus, I had problems with the pc recognising the drive, then there were boots where crucial’s storage device manager was identifying the disk to be 100% full then just very inconsistent read /write speeds where it would sit at 0kb/sec for periods of anywhere up to 40ish seconds. But I am N = 1. Maybe just got unlucky with my one…
