Looking for a Compact USB Hub with 65W Charging and Bought 7-in-1 USB-C Hub to HDMI Adaptor from Kmart

Hi All,

I was looking for a hub for my Lenovo X1 laptop to connect to an external monitor and also charge the laptop at the same time and ended up buying this

https://www.kmart.com.au/product/7-in-1-usb-c-hub-to-hdmi-ad…

It does mention

USB-C female port:
20V@5A, Support max 100W power adaptor, Input only

however, it doesn't charge my laptop after I plug in the USB C charger in the USB C port, although it does cast the display to the external monitor. Is this not the right device or it may be faulty?

Thanks

  • it doesn't charge my laptop

The spec doesnt say USB PD Passthrough. Thats my assumption why it doesnt charge your laptop

    • Thanks, hence why would a hub mention a 100w power?

      • +1

It says input only for the female port which means it won't get fried. Doesn't specify passthrough or output.

This unit clearly says 100W power delivery so should work: https://www.amazon.com.au/Adapter-Thunderbolt-Charging-MacBo…

      • Another assumption is you use the same laptop charger to power the hub and the laptop. If your laptop needs 65W of juice, you need an input of higher than 65W juice like 90W. Hdmi output needs power for the electronics

Mentioning max 100W input so you don’t melt this device by drawing too much power. It is anko/kmart stuff after all?

I would also assume it would pass-through up to 100w. .

Perhaps test the hub on another laptop to make sure it's the product.

Anyway, Kmart would accept a return easy.

I purchased this and can confirm it works. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0855L9MXY?ref_=pe_19115062_429… I only wish the cable was 30cm long

  • Save your money and buy the Ugreen 7 in 1
