RACQ members can save 8 cents per litre off fuel every day at participating new Caltex stations. Discount applies to all fuel, diesel and LPG purchases with a maximum of 120 litres per transaction. RACQ Membership card must be shown at participating stations.

    I think we are all better off signing up for Costco cheaper petrol at this stage…the difference can be up to 30c/L…

      Don't think so for ALL!
      Only 11 Costco fuel outlets in Australia.
      And only 2 in the huge State of QLD.
      Fuel locations

      If you don't live near one, the additional cost of driving to one outweighs the saving.

      It's a 70k or 100k return journey for me in Brisbane. Then pay to "sign up"!!

      Participating new Caltex is close by. Already a RACQ member.
      Or use the copter when 7-11 fuel is on special!

          Westfield Coomera Town Centre, "opening first half of 2023". With fuel.

          That will be an improvement - as many drive the GC - BNE road. And a large population South of BNE to GC.

          Costco are surrounding Brisbane, on roads to W, then N, & now S 😨

          Again, too far (85k return) for my regular needs. Caltex is 5k return, & 7-11 servo closer.

        Costco strategy is to locate a small number of large centres close to outer lying transport hubs to decrease their costs. Then charge us membership to "save". It's not about our convenience!
        So no.

            Depends on so many factors including:

            How much fuel you are buying?
            Small city cars usually have small fuel tanks, motor bikes even smaller, gas guzzlers tend to have large ones

            Price difference between Costco & local cheapest servo (both after discount)?
            Both could be at different stage in price cycle. That can account for your "up to 30c/L…" price difference!
            And price may change during that long drive time to nearest Costco.

            Less…

            Distance difference between those servos? That's a cost in fuel, plus other running costs. That cost depends on the vehicle driven. Fuel guzzlers that most benefit from saving on fuel cost, cost the most to drive distance to that cheaper fuel!

            As a guide to vehicle running costs, the ATO cents per km rate is $0.78 per kilometre.
            (That is the rate accountants would recommend to use when calculating driving costs.)
            That makes my up to 100k return trip for "cheaper fuel" a $78 cost before saving anything on fuel!!

            The cost of time spent in traffic to you? (Worth $hundreds at some people's hourly rate!!)

            Plus the value of the health risk & stress, inconvenience, loss of amenity, etc.

            And lots of other factors.

            So you do the maths

            It's basic Cost Benefit Analysis.

            So many people fail to factor in the costs of running a vehicle (eg drivers in the gig economy). Sadly, they only factor in their much smaller gains😢

            Obviously a person living in remote areas of Qld, or in WA etc (living up to thousands of km from nearest Costco) would not benefit.
            But your claim was "we are all better off signing up for Costco cheaper petrol "!
            Your claim is obviously wrong! No need to do the maths!!

            For those close to a Costco or it's close to where they normally drive - it could save. But still will cost extra for membership.

      That said, it looks like CALTEX servo's locations arent that great in larger urban ares of Oz

        That list is just the participating new Caltex.

        There used to be plenty of Caltex… Most were changed to Ampol, when the use of the name was taken back by Chevron.

        More Caltex are coming. Many Puma are being rebranded to Caltex this year.

          Correct to some degree if you are looking at CALTEX fuel on its own, but this specific bargain is limited to only the NEW stations, so I assumed those here are only interested in the discounted fuel opportunity.

            It's a fresh start for Caltex, so few servos so far. But growing.
            Hence this promo!

            Unlike before the plentiful Caltex servos were rebranded as Ampol (by last year), after Chevron took back the trademark.

            The short list of participating NEW Caltex servos (with discount in this Deal) is already listed above & in the Deal Link… for "those here are only interested in the discounted fuel opportunity."

            But seems likely all Caltex are considered NEW servos! Just some rebranded Puma may not yet be on the list.

      I have a Caltex right next to a Costco near me, filled up today at the Caltex as with this discount it's 4c cheaper than at Costco.

    It's a shame that you can't use other Auto Clubs' cards interstate for the fuel discount. RAA RAC RACV etc
