  • I the difference between the two just that one is all metal? Does that make a difference?

    • +2

I would advise against the metal ones. Gets too hot to handle :P

      • +5

Then again it means good cooling right?

        • +2

That’s what I would think, the plastic one keeps the heat inside … that’d be worse wouldn’t it?

      • The plastic one gets very hot as well but has the added downside of feeling very cheap and flimsy. I haven't tried the metal one but I would probably prefer the more rugged option, especially if the housing helps distribute the heat away from the components.

    • +2

I have the plastic one on my keys and the plastic around the USB A side started cracking and breaking off within a month. It still works fine, but looks like garbage.

  • Howabout 2TB USB 3.0 for $30! What could go wrong?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BR8S97N6/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0…

    • +1

@dtoovey New seller at Amazon. Buy at your own risk. Unknown quality of the product.

    • +1

It's fully compatibel with USB3. You're right, what could possibly go wrong?

    • It's disturbing this one under $26.00 "2TB"has been sold for a while, with many complaints of fake claims, where's the QC Amazon? https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BN5QPSXB/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0…

  • 512GB is $78, seems to be pretty cheap too.

  • Can this be used as an external for an Android?

    • +3

It says it can be used as an android back up, so I guess yes.

      • But… can I load movies on this, plug it in and watch on my phone straight from the USB?

        • +2

Sure can, does get a bit warm though.

        • +2

Yes. I've done this with a similar model with VLC

        • +1

I have done exactly this. Definitely works.

But best to transfer stuff to internal storage and then watch off that, due to aforementioned heat issues.

    • +2

      Yep!

  • Damn wish it was $39 for free delivery

    • +2

You can get the luxe that it's $41. See bottom of description.

      • +1

Thanks thought it was only type c, but see it both 👍

  • +1

    Thanks OP, bought one!

  • Purchased when it was ~$35 during black friday sales, so could be cheaper

    • +1

Just have to wait 300 days to possibly save 300 cents.

  • +2

thanks OP got the lux cause why not eh

  • Don't really need it but why not! Paid $28.26 for the Luxe version after $10 perks code discount + $5.99 shipping (only option sadly).

The trick is, price match via chat the luxe version first ($41.00), agent will then advise that they can only price match items sold and shipped by Amazon. Then proceed with the cheaper plastic version ($38.26) and wait for the shopping cart link with the Luxe version added instead. Your result may vary!

    Nocure's deal was much better

    • +1

If you don't mind waiting four years for shopping square to deliver, sure. Not exaggerating.

    • 128 GB vs 256 GB . Not the same.

  • Tafe course requires a 1 tb external ssd - anything better around than the Sandisk for $99 ?
