Bought 4 of these a couple of weeks ago and they're amazing. I cut myself every time I use them

    • You need go get some chef course in TAFE.

"I cut myself every time I use them"

Try holding them at the other end.

    • Me too.Not every time though…

      They are great knives.
Actually a blunt knife is more dangerous than a sharp one. There is something beautiful about a truly sharp knife.

    • it's not as sharp as people claim.

  • Thanks. Cheap!

Great price for some awesome everyday knives but over $16 delivery is just taking the piss. Will pass on this deal just because of that.

$6.99 for a month of prime with free shipping, or get a free trial and pay nothing

Prime is a very worthy spend imo, most of my bulk grocery purchases are done through amazon.

  • I always get confused with items purchased thru Amazon AU but fulfilled by Amazon UK or US. Does this count as a foreign transaction for CC foreign fees to apply?

    • I don't think so, but usually they jack the price a bit for the AU store. Current price on UK store is ~$35 AUD. Usual price on AU store is ~$44.

    • Nope, you pay the price on the Amazon.com.au site.

      • So the billing entity is Amazon AU?

As someone who owns about a Dozen of Ozbargains favorite knives, I'm going to say something controversial. I actually don't recommend them.

Hear me out - Yes, these knives are razor sharp (It's a tiresome meme). However, use them ONLY as food prepping knife and on a chopping board! If you actually use them an "eating" knife on a ceramic/porcelain plate (as I have been doing), they will become blunt exceedingly quickly. Those razor sharp teeth grind down until the serration is entirely gone rendering the knives useless.

"So use them as a food prepping knife" - I hear you say. Well yes, that's probably the only way these knives should be used, but the problem is then it's competing with every other fantastic kitchen knife out there. I guess the advantage they have is that they are so cheap.

I'm ready for the negs, but I feel like I never hear anything negative about this product so it deserves to be mentioned.

You can throw them away when they become blunt at this price

    • +8

This hasn't happened to me in 3 years of daily use, maybe I just don't press so hard on the plate. No need for much pressure when they are so sharp.

    • +3

We've had a set of these for over 15 years and granted whilst not razor sharp they are still very good.

    • +3

You don't deserve negs but I haven't had any issue with this sort of thing. Whatcha cutting over there that might be very tough?

    • So use them as a food prepping knife on a chopping board

I use them when eating lunch - cheese, tomatoes etc on bread/crackers. If you have to use a knife this sharp and grind it against your plate to cut food then you're cooking wrong

    • Yes, they are mainly best for food prep imo. If you want something kickass to use as a steak knife, go for something like this - https://au-dalstrong.glopalstore.com/products/gs-straight-st…

    • Here's an even better idea, don't use them for food prep unless you want to rip the crap out of your chopping boards. My partner insists on using damn steak knives for all kitchen cutting, even after I bought a couple of Wusthof Ikon Classics, and all our chopping boards get torn to shreds.

Not sure how you're cutting your dinner but you're clearly doing something wrong

    • I've also had a set of 6 for over 6 years, no issue for me..
It sounds like you might have a fake batch or something.

  • +1

for those who have used these for a long time, does anyone sharpen their knives? We've been using ours daily for 3 years now, and even though still sharp, I think we've blunted it a little bit by cutting on glass surfaces the whole time.

    • I’ve never done this but they have a chisel bevel, so you could pull the flat side across a sharpening stone at a very low angle – almost flat – and that would probably get some of the finger-slicing powers back

You also get an extra 10% off if you add quantity of 2 to your cart. Comes to $50.90 for 12, so $4.24 each.

The buy 2 save 10% promotion that automatically applies is not bad, $50 for 12 knives! Will gift a set away

    Thanks OP, grabbed a set.

  • i would prefer non serrated knives… good price though

Always hear how good these are - but just can't get over how ugly plastic knife handles are.. Anyone have any wooden handle recommendations?

  • Awesome price - bought two with the extra 10% off coupon. Great gift present! Thanks, OP!

  • I bought a pair last month for my sister.

She has already cut herself twice. This things are sharp.

  • +1

buying the multi-colour tomato ones, hopefully they are sharp enough for steaks haha

I've said this so many times, these are an essential knife for food preparation in your kitchen…..just learn to use them properly, and they're NOT a steak knife for the table..

    • +4

They work perfectly well as steak knives for the table.
