ShopBack Cashback. Is It Worth It?

I saw 'shopback 7% cashback on electronics' and purchased a $925 phone using the store link from Shopback website. They gave me $4.65 cashback (still in processing). That is barely 0.5% cashback.

Is this happening to everyone? is it not misleading to offer 7% and then actually give 0.5%? Thinking of deleting my shopback account.

Was it UP TO 7% ?

I got no problem using cashback providers, and anytime I’ve had issue with cash rewards or shopback both reps have been very responsive and solved the issue. (Shopback rep usually goes into a detailed explanation about why/how the issue occurred too)

I only use them when ever I'm purchasing something but i dont buy stuff just because they advertising higher percentage. However, over the years I have collected couple of grands from them.

  • Which retailer ? If it's eBay or amazon they have different cashback for different categories. You can category wise cashback if you check the store

Did query it with Shopback for an explanation?

Why would they do something so logical?

        lol

Maybe so they don't end up like this recent Cashrewards user

@Jimothy Wongingtons: So avoidable but just easier to have a whinge when you're anonymous online. Unlike yourself, Jimothy - you used your real name on OzB and now have to tread carefully as a result so as to keep your reputation intact ;)

I don't know how TA does it …. time after time ….TA is a saint!

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Who was rekt, though?

Maltopia dished the fatal blow, as they backed-away.

            Paraphrasing:
            "Cashrewards was 6%, then 12%."

"Sorry, it was shopback offering 20%"

  • From Amazon ?? yeah they got weird categories. you should have asked GYB or seen Camelcamelcamel for the actual real category in Amazon.

    • Sounds very much like this was the case.

Does 3x Camels actually give you the correct category?

      • That's what I have heard from others here.

Except Amazon has a whole separate category for 'Mobile Phones & Wearable Tech'. OP is just salty that they f'd up.

Not worth it to go out of your way. But if you are on your personal computer and it is only a couple of extra clicks may as well.

I would never buy something because of the cash back, but if you do get some it’s a nice bonus.

Yes please delete your account because you clearly can't read the t&c's and work out why you didn't receive the full amount

  • 10 cents shop back per Uber Eats order, not really worth it. I kinda gave up on uber eats after they stopped giving at least $1 back, so maybe it's a good thing. Save money and lose weight.

Marketing (scammers) always use qualifiers to make a deal appear much sweeter than it really is. "Upto" is a common one.

  • They often don't honour deals and have convoluted conditions. My advice is, if you're buying anyway, why not throw cashback.in the mix. On the offchance they honour the deal, fine, and if not, you've lost nothing. Never buy because of the deal though. Never had any success complaining to them either.

  • The percentage is on the pre GST price and not including any delivery fees.

  • Thinking of deleting my shopback account.

Don't bother. Your personal details from shopback were already sold on the dark web, after they got hacked.
