LG Australia Review

Hi All,

I am planning to buy LG washing machine "LG WV10-1412B 12kg" and was looking for LG australia reviews in productreview.com. Most of the reviews were negative and it makes me to think whether to go ahead or not. But given the recent TV deals are so popular, wondering how is your experience with LG Australia support in general if you had to deal with them for any warranty issues? Please vote in the poll. Thanks in Advance.

Great machines, but, when they break down you're as stuffed as your wet clothes. Or you may get lucky like I did, and it rusts and LG says because you let it get dusty, you can get stuffed. I didn't know the power of a bit of lint from the dryer could be so abrasive to a poorly fitting lid. Bastards.

    • Thanks for the response. I see the reviews similar, once it breaks down then their support is not at all good. Just wanted to find one that's decent.

Well you have convinced me with your in depth analysis and brilliant review

      • It was the full stop on a new line that did it, right?

        • Its pretty compelling stuff

I had an LG washer that had the motor die about 7 years in. $175 to have it replaced and was still doing great when I sold the machine about a year after because I moved and it was too big for the laundry cupboard.

They're pretty basic machines and if you don't live somewhere where rust is sn issue, shouldn't be much hassle.

    • That's good to know, thanks. I do have Fisher and Paykel old model which is going strong. I don't have issues with it but it's small for the family so thinking to upgrade. Likes the design of LG but when I looked at reviews, I was disappointed.

    • I don't live in a rusty environment, but it still rusted. I even have one of those fancy driers that doesn't create a sauna in the laundry.

      • Yes but what's the salinity of the tap water?

    Tested:
Hoover: every 5 minutes out of warranty they need a new door switch
Hoover top of range: Kills clothes.
Bosch very basic model supplied by Hitachi: Done nearly 100k washes when motor gave up.
Samsung: Front loader keep your fire brigade away. Best looking machine, sings better song at end but too restricted to keep missus happy.
LG : Rusts, replaced the power switch 5 times (cheap) replacement dampers need modification. Circuit-board needs eventually all switches and to be sealed. Quick doing good wash, useless drying function….

The summary is great, thanks. Looks like Bosch stayed strong for a while. I almost decided to go with LG until I saw the reviews.

      • Interestingly Bosch has very poor reviews on productreview.com.

    • Tested by who and what models? stats are generally not very useful without such details.

      • Generally old proven stuff lasts longer. LG makes great TV's, failed on phones.

Agreed, however even now old proven stuff are not what they used to be. eg: i have a 20-yr old Bosch that lasts and lasts may not mean the new ones are as durable.

If my LG washing machine is anything to go by, they are SOLID AS F.

    • My one - and 2nd hand one was bought from a South Korean immigrant about 18 years ago… I'd say it's probably 20 years old at least.
    • Has NEVER broken down or anything, so have never had to deal with LG Australia support. No issues or wear / tear issues, NOTHING. Usage: once a week, sometimes twice.
    • My model (WF-D100K, green colour) is probably not even supported by LG Australia. I can't even find any info on the internet except a few korean websites like this: https://www.hellomarket.com/item/163339687 (wrong colour, and looks slightly different).
    • Mine is obviously not 'smart' - it's pretty basic, but has different modes.

My Hoover fridge (at least 25 years, original owner) has been SOLID AS F as well. Zero issues (except rust on the paint, is god unsightly and now lives in the shed, still used)

My new Westinghouse fridge has broken down TWICE in my past 5 year ownership (freezer freezing itself, fan malfunction)

    • Maybe the saying is right - that modern appliances are built to break down.

OP, maybe just find a 2nd hand old one for cheap (like I have), even though it might look like crap by now… and it'll be trouble-free usage for many more years (and much better bang for your money)

    • Thanks for the insights :) I agree with you on the old appliances. I have the one which is like more than 15 years old and him and going very solid. But since I'll be moving to another place where I would like to upgrade it to the latest ones.

I used them once for an aircon where the door thingy didn’t close properly. They organised a repairer to come fix it without issue.

I also have an Lg 10kg top loader. Have had it for 13 odd years; no issues, still running as normal

    • Thanks, that's good to know. There are some instances where these things works just fine for many years :)

    • all top loaders tend to last longer… when it does break its easier to fix, I've fixed one for a friend of mine.

Bought that exact model your asking about about 2 months ago.

Grabbed for 1400 price matched and used 15% discount cards.

End of the day I don't believe in longevity regardless of brand , just get extra warranty.

If you go Bosch , Miele they can and will die. Things aren't made to last anymore.

As to the actual machine, its been perfect. Auto-dose is practical , and Ai-DD is keeping all my washes to around 1hr.

    • That's great, I was looking at LG website where I found a good deal. So I had a look through the reviews before committing. I should get it retails rather than LG itself for extended warranty from then.
