Booking.com: 12% Cashback @ Cashrewards

530

I was booking some accommodation and noticed that there's 12% cashback for Booking.com until 10am AEDT tomorrow. Using this and the 10% Genius discount the total I've saved is about $160. As always with booking accommodation be sure to check Expedia, Agoda and the hotel directly as sometimes they're cheaper.

Be sure to check the terms below, especially the screenshots showing the CR banner on Booking.com when you've clicked through. This is a good sign that the cashback will track.

Special Terms

Ensure "In Partnership with Cashrewards" or "Cashrewards" branding logo is displayed on each page of your booking. Your sale will not track and will not be attributed to Cashrewards if logo is not present. Your Booking.com confirmation email must also show this and claims will not be accepted if not present. Sample screenshots here & here.

Use of any Booking.com refer-a-friend links, codes or any non-Cashrewards incentives (offers, links, newsletters, secret prices) will invalidate cashback, unless stated as eligible on this site.

The purchase amount will display in EUR in your My Rewards, however the cashback amount is converted to AUD at current conversion rates.

Cashback is eligible on accommodation bookings only. Car rentals, flights, and non-accommodation bookings are ineligible for cashback.

Cashback is ineligible on bookings made via the Booking.com App.

Cashback is ineligible if travel is not consumed.

Does cashback stack with genius? I've seen prices changing if you click through with cashback and have genius on. Mobile can also be cheaper

I recently noticed that too, ended up cheaper without going through shop back. Even after cashback for me.

I visited this thread just to say the same thing,
and can see others have noticed this too,
ie. prices are very different, when going through a cashback site
        than booking directly through Booking.com

So it's a deal, but for cashrewards, not for us :)

@localhost: Sometimes I really do wonder how much more reasonably priced can goods or services be,
if there were no overheads for advertising, affiliate links, loyalty cards, cashbacks, etc.

      • I made a couple of bookings last night.

checked via desktop without going through cashrewards to find a few options, then went via cashrewards app on phone to get a mobile only price.
price was cheaper on mobile than desktop.

i was logged into my booking.com account on desktop.

For some places it is and for others it's not. Fortunately for my regular places it never goes up. Unfortunately they only alw the 10% Genius discount and not 20% or 30%.

Definitely agree that prices get bumped up when you go through the Cashrewards link .

Interesting, can't say I've noticed this. I usually find a stay on booking then go check what the cashback rates are on CR and SB before comitting and the prices stay the same for me.

    What’s Genius?

Man you made me excited.. this is limited to accommodation only

Cashback is eligible on accommodation bookings only. Car rentals, flights, and non-accommodation bookings are ineligible for cashback.

  • What are peoples thoughts on changing the payment method after booking and having cashrewards tracked. Will this void the cadh rewards amount?

    • +1

I had pay on site. Ended up not staying by asking the hotel to cancel. Surprisingly, the cash back got approved

As per usual, before you book with the "12% discount" check the price with the hotel directly. It is very often cheaper than the artificially inflated booking.com price.

    • I thought putting it in the description would save people the trouble.

Booking.com has been cheaper than booking direct for me every time. Genius level 3 though

Best to check prices a few ways before booking with cashback. For my recent booking to Bali, it was cheaper with booking.com than the hotel website as breakfast was free with genius, whereas I had to pay via the hotel website. Plus, the price was the same through booking.com with or without clicking through ShopBack, on different devices, so I got the cashback on top so all up it was quite a good saving for me this time.

Last time I tried booking something through booking.com (about a month ago), the price was inflated when clicking through both Cashrewards and Shopback, well above the cashback rates (then around 5-6%). Would recommend checking prices first without clicking through cashback providers

    • This! Booking hotels/onsens for my 3 week Japan holiday, and had booking.com through cashrewards open, and a incognito Google Hotel search open on the other screen. Found much cheaper through Google Hotels than the former, even after calculating the cashback amount.

      • Hey I’m also just about to start planning a 3 week trip to Japan, any recommendations? (Flying into Tokyo and out of Osaka)

@Ghogger - I'm more concentrating on northern Japan, The southest I'll be going is to Suzuka Circuit for the F1. But mostly staying Hokkaido, Sendai area.
Doing South of Japan next year.

          A few places my partner and I have put down, mainly from watching Youtubers and researching are;
Tsukiji Fish Market - The main Tokyo fish market
          - Tsukiji Donburi Ichiba
          - Koukyo Imogashi Shimizu Tsukiji Honten
          - Tsukuji Teppanyaki Jyu-Jyu
          - Maruyama Nori Ten
          - Peppers Cafe
          - Tadokoro Shukushin

          Sendai -
          Godaigo - Temple
          Dawn Avatar Robot Cafe
          Sunshine City - Pokemon Cafe

          Hokkaido
          - Mount Tarumae
          - Jozankei Daiichi Hotel Suizantei
          - Hakodate - The JR Pass shinkansen from Tokyo will take you to here, then we're renting a car to travel around Hokkaido

          Otaru -
          Tanaka Sake Brewery

          Yokohama
          - Cup Noodle Museum
          - Chinatown
          -Nissan Engine Museum

Since, I'm going in September, will be catching the WEC Fuji 6 hours race, The F1 race, and the Grand Sumo Tournament.

I'm sure, I'm missing a few that my partner has put down, but we're still working through our itinerary

As others have already commented, it's true that these booking places price-jack people who've come in via a cashback link. Be thorough with checking the price via different avenues before committing.

I wonder whether our normally responsive friends from the cashback websites will have anything to say on this.

    • I wonder whether our normally responsive friends from the cashback websites will have anything to say on this.

Happens for some accommodation and not others. I find that the "partner deals" from a 3rd party will disappear… understandably. Really depends on the individual hotel and if they're into price jacking. Since I fly around the country dozens of times a year all my usual places don't price jack so it's the same through cashback.

      • +1

I think Cashrewards and Shopback has an obligation to try to do something here, though, because if they're showcasing companies that price-jack for cashback websites and rip off customers, it corrodes the credibility of the cashback websites. They're facilitating a racket.

          Good luck

  • Prices on booking.com app are often cheaper than the website :/

  • I saved $500 by booking directly through the holiday park I stayed just two weeks ago. I used to use Booking.com and cash rewards which make it even dearer

  • I find prices higher on Agoda with cashrewards or certain accommodations not available when using Cash rewards.

I found booking.com the same price just less the CR. If 10% plus % off usually cheaper then Agohda but not by much.
