      • It's on now, I'm just charging the battery at the moment as it came 100% flat

        • I can second this

        • +1

          Also came with ios 14.6

          • @sharka: The update is pretty quick - faster than the initial charge at least lol…

            • +1

              @terrys: Yeah too true!
@YLD1 thanks for posting this deal. Wasnt considering a new phone but glad i pushed the button on it when i did

    • I just received mine too - 256gb Blue Brisbane. I'm still waiting for it to turn on.

  • +1

No phone and no tracking number but Amayasim sent me an sms saying they were going to transfer my number to Amayasim yesterday.

    • So have your number been ported to a SIM that you haven’t received?

      • Not yet but the sms said up to 3 days. I sure hope my sim and phone turn up before then.

  • Any news from the chat front about overdue deliveries?

    • +1

They say it’s still within the timeframe and ask me to contact the other day. Sigh

      • +1

Seeing so many phones on marketplaces, but I really need this iPhone. Do not have a phone right now, my old one was defect. :(

  • +1

Blue 256GB, ordered 6:19pm last Tuesday.
    Delivered today, 12noon Sydney.
Taken out of box - empty battery, but quickly showed the red symbol to commence full recharge.

    • Same here

How's the SOT and battery between 14.7.1 and 16.3 for those who played with it out the box?

    • +1

      Battery is better than expected.

I don't know what SOT stands for.

      • Might upgrade to 16.3 seeing there's no JB for 14.7.1.
        SOT - Screen on Time

      • +1

updated to 16.3 and works very well

  • For those who got an empty tracking number, what happened later? Did you get an updated tracking number later? And have any of you got the parcel?

    • I’ve just got off live chat (am in this situation as well) - operator was unable to do any further investigation and eventually said “maybe you’ll receive an email with tracking link in 1 week, maybe less. We have had a high number of device orders.”… not exactly confidence inspiring. My invoice did contain an IMEI, so I can only hope that a device has been allocated… it’s just sitting waiting to leave their depot.

      256gb blue, ordered 5:40pm, Brisbane.

      • Yea. you remind me the email has an IMEI which makes me feel better. Thanks for that.

        • +2

I’ve just got a tracking notification from Australia Post. It’s a MQNZ number so I’m pretty sure it’s the phone. ETA tomorrow apparently… needless to say I won’t be home. Hope you get a shipping notification soon mate!

    • I called them and got the usual line that it was still being processed and once it's ready it will be shipped. If I don't get it this week, I'm cancelling. Also they said that since the plan has already started, I can call them once I receive the phone to restart the plan.

    • yeah finally it was tracked in Australia post app around 5pm this evening, due for delivery tomorrow

  • +2

Ordered Green 128GB at 2.30pm on the day. Just picked it up from the post office in Sydney CBD.

There was no other packaging in the box other than the Apple iPhone box plus SIM card and some promotional flyers.

Phone wouldn't turn on but after charging for 15 mins, I could turn it on and restore an iCloud backup and update the iOS. It was running very hot though. Maybe it's because of my charger?

All in all, great deal and deserves all the upvotes.

Hope those who haven't received their phones yet get yours soon!

    • not for me.

  • +1

Battery life has been quite good for me despite what I heard before buying. Maybe I'm not a power user, but today I started 90% and now am 61% despite fiddling with phone all day. Only using 4G which may help.

    • Have you upgraded to ios 16.3?

      • Yes, I did immediately. I did change some settings that apparently help battery life from a youtube video, like disabling background app refresh on most apps. Not using low power mode but I am using dark mode

  • +3

Just got tracking 3:50pm for 256GB blue Brisbane. My mental health is improved significantly… 🤣

    • +1

      Same mate… same 😂

    • Finally I got the AP track notification for my Blue 256G Syd.

      • Lucky you. None for me. I just revoked my vote.

    • +1 another one here
just received a notification in Auspost App
my anxiety level has significantly gone down

    • +2

Same. I think we were all in the same Boat. Half my anxiety is gone. I will reach nirvana if the phone turns on normally and isn't DOA. I haven't received an updated email with tax invoice and tracking info (I was one of the ones who received two emails on Sunday with empty tracking number and a emails that claims it's an invoice despite not having a tax invoice number).

For those of you who have received your devices, do you mind checking your email with the invoice and let me know if the invoice had a invoice/receipt number and whether it was an attachment, or the body of the email was the actual invoice. I'm asking for TRS purposes.

      • +4

I am hoping the phone doesn't turn on so apple can give me an iPhone 13 mini instead 🤣

        • +2

          Dream of it tonight lol

        • Have people with DOA units been given 13 minis? Or is that optimistic?

          • +2

@Webbo: Read the large comment on the top of this page or the previous page by Daytona955i. When they took it into the Apple Store, Apple refused to give them a new device and instead go back to Amaysim as it was DOA.

            • +1

@nomadspartan: But he didn't take it to the store. He said he called them.

              • +1

@Webbo: True maybe if they went in the store and said "ACL", they might have rolled the red carpet.

  • +1

Just received blue 256gb today. I chose 'new number' when I purchased, but now I want to port in my old number and still use the 90 days of credit. The plan was already activated automatically by Amaysim 4 days ago when I purchased it. I asked online support if I could port in my old number and have the 90 days of credit on my old number since I haven't used any of it, but they said no. Anyone else have a different experience?

    • +1

Yes, I was able to transfer the plan to my old number through online support, I was already on an Amaysim monthly plan though, not another provider.

      • Thanks so much for responding with your experience. I re-contacted support and said that 'someone from a forum' had a different experience - customer rep spoke to their manager and they eventually said they would do my request and transfer over the 90 days of credit. Thank you!

  • -2

Loads on eBay at the $750 mark, be interesting to see what sells. One seller was decent enough to put one on at 0.01 and it's up to $610 already

    • Putting it up for auction doesn't make them decent.

    • +3

It will make it real interesting when someone purchases one of these phone on Ebay or worse Gumtree that turns out to be DOA, as being then 4th party, Amaysim may say not their problem take it up with the seller you purchased from. That would be a nightmare.

      • +1

Exactly, I opened and tested mine before selling still sold for $680 so was happy 128gb red

  • +1

Bought the 256GB for $474 and just sold my old 128GB mini for $468 😂. Thanks OP for the $6 new battery, storage and warranty upgrade!!

    • +1

      Your welcome!

  • Is it just me? I can see a bit lagging in settings after upgrading from 14.7 to iOS 16.3. I played with settings in 14.7 for several hours, very smooth.

    • Is it a fresh install or did you migrate content from another phone?

There's a shitton of new features compared to iOS 14 and it might be that the phone is working in the background to index everything you have there, incl. running text recognition on every photo.

      • It is a fresh install.
Only several photos synced from icloud.
Maybe the ios 16.3 redoes the indexing again.

    • What's people's experience with going from iOS 14 to 16 on this model? Is it considerably slower?

  • +3

finally got a tracking no. for the 64GB purple in Syd.

  • My ETA updated this morning from today to tomorrow :’(

    • Same here.

      • Now it's changed to due today 😅

        • So did mine 😂 arrived around an hour ago

  • My white 128gb is due today in Perth. Not sure if I'm going to keep it as my s21+ still runs perfectly fine.

    • I the galaxy s21 plus is better tbh, but if you want a smaller phone the mini wins

  • Just receive 10am today! but why the attached sim is a $2 sim?! I chose the physical sim when I purchased. Anyone know that? thanks!

    • +2

They give you any sim they have, they don't have a separate drawer with "OEM" sims. So, there you go - a physical card.

      • but is that $120 90days plan sim? that is my concerned.

        • I don't think that sim is in any way personalised for you, ie. if you try to use it, it probably won't have any plan activated.

I can't be sure about the exact process at amaysim. If you'd rather not chat with them or browse all the comments here, you can "risk" and insert it, then run amaysim app, log in and try to activate your plan on it. But that's just how I picture it.

  • +1

The 12 mini I received has semi-circular ‘black spot’ on the top right of the screen. The odd thing is that it’s perfectly round. At first I thought it might be a software issue, as it seems in line with the speaker cutout. But updating and resetting haven’t helped.

If it is dead pixels, has anyone else experienced this? Also has anyone else need to request a replacement from Amaysim? Hopefully they kept some spare stock on hand.

    Edit:
Amaysim call centre have told me to go to an Apple store and they will handle it. Hopefully they have some non-refurb 12 minis on hand.

    • Can you share a picture?

    • Sounds like a defective screen, apple will replace it for free for you.

  • Received my iPhone 12 Mini Blue 256gb this morning. The gods have smiled upon me as the device started normally, albeit after a few minutes of being plugged to the charger. Device manufactured December 2020, on iOS 14.7.1, battery health at 100%.

The phone is running quite warm, although I am inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt for now due to first time boot up and fast charging from a 20-watt charger. Amazing deal for sure, only have to wait and see how the battery is after being discharged for a long time, but I intend to purchase the Apple Magsafe battery pack as it's a perfect fit for the phone. All in all, this was a cracker of a deal and I hope those of you still waiting will get your phone soon.

    • noticed the heat issue as well. it is now much slower on the wireless charger(i have an anker, normal wireless charger). the small phone really doesnt have much buff room before it soaks up all the heat, takes way way longer than my pro max phones. I think ill stick with wire charging until i find a decent magnetic cable.

    • Where do you find the Device manufactured date?

  • -6

Considering the battery performance is a disaster, thinking to get a 13mini.

    • +1

I'm finding compete opposite. Charge lasts me all day, lowest i got was 20% yesterday just before bed. Are you gaming? I don't game so maybe that's the difference…..

    • Considering you call 12 mini's battery performance a disaster (which is somewhat true for those who use their minis rather for non-calling purposes), it's silly of you to expect wonders from 13 mini's battery.

  • How do I check production date? I used the chipmunk.nl website mentioned several comments but was told "We are very sorry, but this serial number does not make sense".

Phone was shipped with FW 15.3.1 which was released around early 2022. Could that imply production date around then as well?

    • applesn.info check with Serial number and you will find production date

      • Just tried, got this message:

Apple has initiated a transition to a randomized serial number system.
New devices like iPhones 13, iPads 2021, and other latest Apple devices have new Serial Number standards (usually have 10 digits) and we cannot verify these new Apple devices based on SN.

Searching with IMEI only shows purchase date, not production date.

        • +1

In that case your device seems to be manufactured in 2022 then with the new style serial number. I entered my serial number in the link you provided above, and it came up with the manufacturing information immediately.

Despite having an ETA of tomorrow, my blue 256gb has just been delivered in Brisbane. Hope everyone gets theirs soon!

  • +4

    Received today- blue 256 GB
The question is now what should I do with it 😂😂

    • Me same

  • Was meant to receive it today, but delivery just got cancelled for tomorrow, guess it will be more than an 1 week wait before i get my purchased phone :(

  • -2

If anyone wanted to quick flip the 256 for $600. They are based in Melbourne https://www.mobilebuyers.com.au/

  • My Blue 256gb finally turned up today. Can I please get some advice on phone protection. I previously used an ottorbox but have found that the plastic screen doesn't last long and have to keep buying new cases just for the screen cover.

Is this combo possible with the iphone mini.

Protective case/bumper which is magsafe which allows a tempered glass cover to be fitted and a camera protecto/cover/somthing to protect the camera lens?

I'm not sure if I am being unrealistic about what is possible.

    • these are what i bought:
      camera lens protector https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/233795082479?var=533473794313
      full glass screen protector https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/264858260732?var=564733956296
      clear case (magsafe compatible) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/233706951095?var=533429231208

not exactly cheap but i've used spigen gear before and they're worth it.

      • So looking at the lens protector the lens doesn't have a cover but it raises the rest of the area so it doesn't get scratched when you put your phone down? My husband has an iphone mini and he said trying to protect the camera lens is a pain.

        • i haven't received them yet but going from youtube videos, it does cover the lens

    • I picked this up

      https://www.progadgets.com.au/spigen-iphone-12-mini-color-br…

And the double packs of screen protectors are in special as well

    • make sure go for a case that overs up your camera, but not the lens part. i find those are the best when it comes take photos, you dont have some cheap glass on your lens, but yet it is pretty much protected from fingers, and desktop when put down.

I went out bought the cheapest case i find so i can start using, and shop around on ebay amazon aliexpress for ultimate better cases. (i went for ali, cheap yet decent ).

      • Hubby has previously used fully enclosed lifeproof. However the problem is the plastic for the screen and camera lens scratches and deteriorates quickly and you find yourself replacing the whole case every 6 months or so because of the screen and/or the camera lens part.

  • Got mine 256G Blue this arvo too.

  • So I’ve been using the mini on and off the last day or so and I’m loving the smaller size and weight compared to my pro max.

But you can definitely see the difference in the refresh rate 60Hz vs the promotion on the pro max, eg when you swipe up to unlock the phone.

    • +1

Wow I can’t even distinguish the difference between 60Hz and 90Hz

  • I got my 256GB today with bit of a mixed feelings.

I have iPhone 7 which lasted six years. Just early this year, the phone speaker, front camera and home button died. So I really look forward to this new phone.

I ordered on Tuesday last week, went through same frustration of no tracking number like our fellow ozbargainers when I called Amaysim yesterday. At 1am today I got an email with invoice from Amaysim. Delivery is expected today.

After work, rushing to post office in a bad traffic, I got to post office just before 5PM. I come back home with excitement and open the box. There it is shiny blue iPhone 12 mini with large pain defects on the camera ring. Initially I thought it was some dust or excess glue. But definitely scratch like paint coating defect.

I called the Amaysim and spoke to Philippine customer service person. He was very polite but not so helpful. Just like the other Ozbargainer who has DOA, he asked me to go to Apple store and he promise me that Apple store will exchange to new one. I laughed and I try to explain since I purchased from Amaysim, I would like to resolve this with Amaysim. The conversation soon became a loop. I stayed talking to this person for 40mins, and I felt bad the conversation went over 6pm. This call centre person reassured me and even promised to cal me back tomorrow.

Then I return back to this post and reading other ozbargainers comments one by one.

After reading DOA case, I feel like I will just bite my tongue and just use the dam phone.

    • +1

can you share pics of the damage?

    • +1

Seriously, take it to Apple Store & ask if these markings are normal. You have 12 month Apple warranty (+12 month ACCC). Nothing to lose

    • +1

      large pain defects?
      paint? like a chip?

  • +2

I initiated cancellation and refund as I have no updates from Amaysim. Chat could not tell me why order was not fulfilled. They offered me a credit towards purchasing another phone. I declined. As I said before, cash was taken out from my bank because of debit card, and would need to wait for 6 weeks to get that refunded.

    • need to wait for 6 weeks to get that refunded.

      How is that possible??

      • I hope thats a standard reply and will get that sooner.

        • Six weeks would be the next level of BS that only commits to that bitter feeling I expressed in this comment.

  • Got mine yesterday with the note explaining the sim setup etc. Only problem is they didn’t include the sim. On chat currently trying to sort it out.

Edit: I have to purchase a $2 sim, they’re crediting the $2 and an additional $10 to my account.

    • esim is so much eaiser to set up….open up camera, scan, done…………

  • I received mine a couple of days ago and an email yesterday from amaysim saying that the simcard is ready to use. So is the simcard active already or can i delay it?

    • Possibly not, it’s started no matter you use or not

  • Seems impossible to get a proper "tax invoice" out of these guys. I can't see it in my payment section in the member's area. Chat has promised to email it to me a few days ago (yet nothing). Anyone able to easily download/obtain their own tax invoice?

    • I'm hoping that TRS will accept the email format amaysim invoice.

      • I think the email invoice includes the GST and also the ABN at the bottom. Unless the officer not allowing the email invoice.

        • You can print it out anyways.

          • @sicaboy: Btw the email gst includes the plan. I think that can’t be trs? May need a separate invoice just for the phone.

      • +1

This list defines a tax invoice.

The email has everything but at the same time so many things from that list might be questionable - there's no date of issue, there'a date of order (under one of the items) and date you got the email.

    • +1

Yes it's not an easy process. With enthusiasm they say let me help you with that. Then they say this issue has to be handled by a different department. It really shouldn't be that difficult. I think by law they have to issue a tax invoice if requested and it's over a certain amount.

  • Finally received the phone. Now we all family members already have mobile plans. Can someone guide me if I can resell it or any other better options for this plan???

  • Is anybody still waiting for their phone?

    • I never received it and initiated cancellation and refund.

    • Did you get it?

  • +1

Anyone elses home and lock screen just chewing through their battery and has a weirdly high screen on time?

    • +2

      Yep, crazy

      • Doesn't look like there is a fix for it either, oh well

  • +1

highly recommend ppl watch some battery optimize video,

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM0WYDcmohw
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFYEvsn_nTc

basically some marketing, advertising tracking, mail push needs to be turned off.

  • -1

Can you guys confirm that it's unlocked? Somehow I checked on imei site, it shows simlock status: Locked. and after checking it's locked to Optus network. Thanks

    • +2

Unlocked. Using Amaysim eSIM+ Telstra Physical SIM……..all working

      • Thank you so much :)

        • +1

using amaysim + boost physical card, works fine.

  • -2

Is anyone else seeing 500GB data remaining instead of 250GB on their phone plan? It says Unlimited 250GB plan but showing 500GB. I don't get it.
    Screenshot

    • +1

Not sure why I'm getting negged for this lol

      • Mine is showing 0GB for some reason. And I can’t even make calls

  • It's been 2 days and my sim still hasn't activated on the app

    • same issue - my number has some problem, they have escalated to 2nd level support :/

      • got it sorted via live chat

  • Should I purchase Apple care?

    • I did, but only because I'm prone to dropping my phones, and whilst I have dropped my Galaxy Note 10+ many times without any issues (it was in a Spigen case) I don't think the iPhone 12 mini has the same durability as a Note 10. Therefore, I bought Applecare, i just rationalized it as part of the price of the phone. So it depends on your circumstances.

      • I put a screen protector and a case on the iphone. I don't know if the iphone is easy to crack when I drop it.

      • +2

i just rationalized it as part of the price of the phone

Out of curiosity, how much was Apple Care for this $400 phone that its purchase could be rationalised?

As for my 2 cents on whether to purchase it - a proper screen protector and a solid case should help a lot and are probably cheaper. These phones are sturdy.

        • $199

          • +2

@nomadspartan: I don’t know how you can rationalise paying an insurance premium that’s 50% of the insured value. That’s like paying $5k to insure a $10k car.

            • +2

@xers: Yeah you're actually right. I purchased Apple Care with my Macbook and iPad, but they're much more expensive devices. I think I'll cancel my iPhone Applecare after I come back from my overseas trip for peace of mind (going for 6 weeks) and Apple will provide a prorata refund for the unused period.

    • +1

really comes down to what kinda of person you are when it comes to handling devices……
if you dont know, buy a year.

      • Thank you!

  • Anyone recommend wireless charger? My usual one heats up the mini badly and only charges up to 80%..

    • I bought the Apple magsafe battery pack off Amazon, used the $15 voucher.

    • make sure it has active cooling….the mini heats up way too much than my max model…….not even joking…

      • Same here. I love the mini for the smaller weight and size but the battery can’t get me through a full day.

And like you said, it heats up quite quickly even when just browsing instagram or just watching a video or two on YouTube.

  • -22

I purchased three (2x 64GB and 1x 256GB), but two of the services still weren't working about a week after being activated. I pushed for a refund on the service portion of the two bundles over livechat, and they approved it - so I'll be getting $125.00 refunded each for two of the bundles, which is pretty damn good.

To help offset the third plan cost, I've ported my number in from Optus as well. Sold two of the phones and replaced my existing 12 Mini with the third, and selling that old one as well. Pretty well up after all that

    • +3

      sick (profanity)

    • -12

Not really sure why there's all these negs. It was perfectly within the T&Cs of the offer to purchase three, and I didn't exceed that limit

      • +3

Did the T&Cs mention you can't take a dump onto your neighbour's front yard?

I'd double check to be sure and then just do it.

      • ok Bro(den)

  • +3

Missed the deal but bought this new off Marketplace for $475 (Blue, 256gb) and that in Sydney too! The seller kept the plan which I didn’t need anyway. Bought it only because of FOMO.

Currently using Mini 12 128gb and it has been a revelation after using large Note series in the past. Also great when out running as it is so light.

Get a decent case like Speck or Tech21 with tempered glass. I have had mine in both at different times, dropped them on concrete and not a single scatch with only hairline crack on the screen protector.

    • my brother has FOMO his iPhone 6 died & was keen on buying marketplace though most people are just out make a huge profit, you're lucky.

      • Tbh, I was surprised that he agreed to it. Had it advertised for ‘$650 ono’. I am sure some others will lower their price soon with flooded market and not enough demand. Just keep trying and asking.

        • -6

I sold my both phones 128GB and 256GB on marketplace with $450 profit in total and still kept both plans with me. Luckily I found people that were not aware about this deal and thought that they are paying a good price. Not everyone is on OZB.

  • Been mentioned above but battery life is ordinary for me at best. If anyone can share their experiences or tweaks that would be helpful. I tried the YouTube video posted earlier and sent it to my daughter (iPhone 12, not mini) and she reckons it made her battery life worse, so she reversed the recommendations and sure enough even to my eyes her battery went back to normal. Go figure. Can’t be that much worse than an iPhone 12.

    • It is actually a lot worse than iPhone 12. Wife had 12 while I have have a 12 Mini. She has a 13 now and it again way better. We tested with similar use (including swapping phones) and 12 goes for 1.5 to 2 days for us while 12 mini barely makes it through the day. Both of us are desk based professionals so it is never far from chargers. Tesla app or similar with constant GPS use are the culprits. Heating is also an issue. However, for me pocketability trumps it all.

thanks buddy, yep same here, appreciate your reply, obviously a tradeoff situation with battery size and phone size

For most apps setting provides a "Siri and search" option which expands into "learn from this app, show app in search, and three options for Siri to make suggestions. If, like me, you are coming from Android, you go to 'settings', then scroll down as the functions are grouped by type and then alphabetically, so you need to keep scrolling down.

There are a multitude of apps and settings that involve Siri monitoring and analysing your use, and providing telemetry and syncing data in order to provide the full functionality the phone can offer and emulate AI to integrate and personalise your phone - plus tender stunning offers, films, music, books etc that you may be interested in.

Once you get an inkling of how much work the little unit is doing in the background, you may be more surprised at how long it lasts…

I turned off all the automatic sync options I could readily find and it uses only a little more power than my RealMe7 - as long as it's on wifi sitting on the desk doing nothing :-0.

Small, powerful and long-lasting battery - pick any two…

I will note that the old B&O earphones than came with the LG V20 or 30 that blew me away with the vaunted LG DAC that was the be-all and end-all of mobile recording and music are reproducing incidentals from ex-vinyl FLAC recordings I hadn't heard until now. Forget the technical specs, this is the widest clearest sound stage and separation of voices/instruments I've listened to since we hooked a pair of Quad electrostatics to a 1970's valve driven Harmon-Kardon class A, and the first phone I have had where "S" sounds don't even hint at a ragged 'top' hiss…

Regret upgrading to iOS 16. Battery drain seems much worse than one that came out the box. It also heats up whilst using whatsapp. How's it for everyone else?

    • +1

How long did you use it on the default iOS before upgrading to iOS 16 ?

I got 2 x 256gb sold them for $650 each, and also got the $125 sim on both refunded as was too much trouble to swap from Telstra business account. I used 1 for a month great little phone just wish camera and battery was better.
Ended up with too good to refuse deal on a 14 pro 256gb. $1k. Brand new.

  • This is shit. The plan starts to count regardless you activate or not. I just activated it and there is only 48 days left instead of 3 month.

lol, this has been stated in the Terms and Conditions. Ozbargainers had fully discussed earlier.

Oh.. I missed all that. But I just called them and they are kind enough to re-start the plan from today.

    • This is interesting. I activated mine 3 weeks after purchasing and I got exactly 3 months.

I purchased this deal beginning of Feb and my plan is till June 1st.

  • The battery of these phones suck man
