Priority Pass Entry

Just received my new priority lounge member with the new card and the terms and conditions mentioned digital card via the app. I seem to remember that entry was based on the physical card. Have they updated it to now accept entry into lounges via the digital card, and do you need to bring along the linked credit card when travelling?

yeah, no issue with digital, actually they encourage us to go digital now (from their app, show them the card/bar code and they scan)
yeah bring the credit card just incase they check the name is the same

I've used the priority pass app… it has the digital card… with the option to put it in my apple wallet. And it worked at the lounge.

Having said that I believe some lounges will only need the Credit Card associated with the priority pass and not the pass/app digital card itself. And this will soon be all lounges.

    It depends.

I have travelled to many places around the world pre-covid. All the lounges that I have been to accepted the digital card on the phone app. There is also no need for the credit card to be brought because upon scanning, the system will show your name and that will have to match your air ticket anyway. I have never been to a lounge where it asked for my credit card because you can be a PP member without any credit card program.

That being said, many lounges have closed post covid or stopped partnership with PP which is quite disappointing. The options are very limited now.

      Yeah, this^.
I've had priority pass through AMEX platinum since 2014, and go overseas more than once every year(not in 2021 :/ ). And have never once been asked to show my credit card.
Although it was sometimes better to show the AMEX platinum at certain lounges(Plaza Premium IIRC) because it had better guest entitlements when travelling with friends.

I also started using the digital card as soon as it was available.
Things to remember with the digital card is that the QR code slightly changes once a day. So If you screenshot the code (I do this sometimes as the app used to be slow - especially on airport wifi, and because of the fear that I might suddenly be logged out), it will not work the next day.

Also, I remember when I was in Sri Lanka once(would have been 2018(?)- I think), there was an outage of the Priority pass terminals. So they could not process my digital card. However, they used one of those chop-chop manual credit card imprinters(dunno what they are called) to get an imprint of my physical card and let me in.
      So don't leave that behind.

I was just in Europe a few months ago, they have a new white Priority Pass machine now, which makes you scan the boarding pass directly on the reader. Earlier the Person would manually compare the names on the pass and the card, now that process was automatic.

I used digital pass in apple wallet recently and have no issue, no one ask for credit card

  • Thanks, looks like the app would suffice based on the majority of feedback here
