  • Will EB games price match for preorder?

    • EB Games will only price-match on release day and only if it the exact same bundle (ie. no exclusive) and still in stock at the competitor.

      • Sounds like it will be easier to just get it from JB. And JB is closer to where I like to park in the mall anyway. EB games are pretty dumb pricing it so much higher than their competitor. If it was $1 or $2 difference they'd still make some extra profit but people would be less likely to be bothered going elsewhere. $11 will pay for a nice coffee and cake in the first café I see after picking it up so I can start playing!

Be careful even if they agree to price-matching pre-release.
Plenty of reports in previous threads where they price-matched the pre-orders, then did a 180 on release (when people went to pick up), saying that competitors have sold-out/were no longer cheap, and refused to honour the agreed price-matched price.
Just buy from the cheaper place.

  • Standard edition $74 on Amazon, with the price guarantee. Slight risk of not getting it on the day though

    • hey, sorry late reply, do you know which retailer would be more likely to deliver on release day?

I'm hedging all my bets on Nintendo e-store lol.

I purchased 2 game vouchers for $135 and using one of them for TOTK. That brings it down to $67.50.

I hope it begin downloading automatically at midnight 🤞🏽

        • Nice idea! although looking at the list TOTK is the only game i'm keen on

          • @bangabargain: Vouchers don't expire for one year. So you can keep it till you find something good.
Although, TOTK might take that long to complete :P

FYI I just reread the purchase confirmation from the Nintendo store.

        Planned release date: 12/05/2023
The payment or voucher redemption will take place starting from seven days before the official release date, and the download will start immediately upon the successful completion of payment or redemption.

So I guess this means it will be downloaded upto seven days before the release date.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition: Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) & Pro Controller now available for Pre-Order

    • Of the OLED Switches, I like this colour scheme when compared to the Pokemon and Splatoon OLED.

If they could only sell the dock and joy cons as standalone items. :(

      • +1

IF you look on eBay Japan they usually sell it separately.

I collect Joycons and that's where i got my Dragon Quest XI, Disney Tsum Tsum and Famicom joycons from.

They usually it straight from the box new

  • Will be interesting to see how the Switch outdated hardware handles this new Zelda game. Of course, Digital Foundry will release a performance video on it.

    • +2

      You know.

The glitches and the lag in the BOTW is what gave it character lol

Nintendo has done some amazing things for games on older hardware so I won't be surprised if they do well with TotK since its a Zelda title

      • My conspiracy theory is that Pikmin 4 and LoZ:TotK will be the last first party triple A titles from Nintendo.

Nintendo will eventually release a new console, launch title could be a Mario/Metroid game (how long have the teased Metroid 4?), don't think it will be Zelda game given the trend they ended the GC and started the Wii with a Zelda title, same for Wii U and Switch - (unless they it's LoZ:TotK with DLC included! in 4k!)

        Who knows?

        • +2

The conspiracy of a new Nintendo Console has been going on for a long time.

          When it happens it'll happen.

Just focus on the games out now and the new ones coming out soon.

TBH I don't need 4K, I prefer good game play and story.

  • Has anyone's Amiibo pre-orders from Amazon been sent yet? Mine are still saying not yet shipped :/

    • +1

Yep, mine arrived with the game on release day (Last Friday) along with 2 other Zelda Amiibo.

      • That's good to hear. I'm hoping they didn't oversell pre-orders then for the ones I ordered (Young Link/Links Awakening) :(

        • I ordered the following Amiibo:

          • The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - Link
          • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Link
          • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Zelda & Loftwing
          • @RichardL: Yeah, they've oversold. Probably won't be pre-ordering from Amazon after this. Been getting cut and paste responses from thier chat, finally after five different support people I've been told that they don't have the stock to fulfill my preorder and that I need to wait for them to recieve more stock.

Guess preordering from Amazon doesn't mean they'll have enough stock to actually fulfill all orders.
