You answered the question for me..

I have ordered the collectors edition and the Zelda Oled switch, so they aren't missing out on my money. I can't see anything morally wrong with that.

How many people play roms they don't own?? Or because it's not out yet I'm a monster?

I'm sure you've never downloaded a movie or played a rom, or listened to a burnt CD etc etc. Don't get all up in my business for playing something available to me.

Reported to Nintendo. Expect a court summons and a penalty of 30% of your earnings for life.

@AustriaBargain: Copying another parties copyrighted property for personal use, without distribution is a civil dispute, not a crime in the sense you are putting it.

We've already had foreign companies try to sue Australians for downloading movies and all they won was the price of a Blu-ray per person, low income individuals not included.

Can you get in trouble for torrenting Australia?
The short answer is yes, torrenting is legal in Australia. However, there are some important caveats to keep in mind. Firstly, while downloading copyrighted material for personal use is not illegal, distributing that material is. So if you're caught sharing files you've torrented, you could be liable for infringement.

I'm not saying that production of entertainment media doesn't deserve to be paid for, but this isn't America, making copies of digital media products for personal use is not a crime in the way you are portraying it.

@AustriaBargain: Haha bloody hell man. No need to be all high and mighty. Tone it down a bit.

He literally said he's ordered the collectors edition of the game. Who cares if he plays it in advance. Nintendo got their money.

            • +13

@shadowfax1007: No one cares if you play a game early, whatever, but being a @&#&$&#&$# @&$&# #$&$@& @&$&&$ and coming here to give an unwarranted review is a dick thing to do.

        • +4

Hahaha what is with all these do-good boot lickers downvoting you?

          • @XVX: Oz bargain , more like little boys club of privileged private school kids
You go man and pirate , cancel that pre order now that you played the game

        • +1

Were you playing on PC or switch?

          • @Budju: Not OP but been playing on Switch in handheld, been okay but there's a good chunk of frames being dropped and doesn't run as smoothly as the first one but there's a definite graphics upgrade.

            • @Arcticviper: I wonder if that’s because it’s now pretty old code.

The code on the cart is now over a month or so old, so last minute bug fixes aren’t present.

            • @Arcticviper: Really ? How dissapointing the first one already run poorly, run like crap in my environments the supposed updates never really resolved it either. Don't get me wrong I still enjoyed BOTW played around 80 hours never went back after that though.

    • +1

I'd say it feels like DLC the same way God of War 2 felt like DLC for GOW1. Or Majoras Mask for OOT. Or basically any sequel that is made within the same engine and art style. The physics systems in this game is absolutely off the hook - no idea how they made it. Not surprised it took them so long!! I've also gone wayyy off track for the last 5 hours and haven't touched the main plot….got too distracted exploring the world (on land, in the air and under ground…). But yes, if you didn't like BOTW I'd be shocked if you like this one!

      • I was gonna say basically the same thing. Similar interface and a bunch of the same sound effects but the new powers and tools are a game changer. There's also a lot more to discover just wandering around than BOTW.

        Also some big QOL improvements.

      • Except Majoras Mask game play was 1000% different from Ocarina of Time.

Yeha it looks the same but so did Pokemon games on the same system but we wouldn't sah they were DLC of each other.

        Harden up mate

        • -3

Yea. You mean I should learn from that guy and pirate it so I could play it now? I don’t care people pirate it, but I care when they are proud of pirating it, show off and affect my experience.

          • +1

@AussieGargain: Where did I saw I was proud or showing off??

I was giving my take on the game so far without giving spoils. I could have been a di%k and said xyz about the game.

            • -2

@adamshere: You’ve been one and said xyz about the game. A thief stealing people’s hardwork and came here arguing “I didn’t do anything wrong”. Next time when you steal, keep the “insight” to yourself.

              • @AussieGargain: A thief hahahaha its a billion dollar company and I have pre ordered the game you goon…

                Keep being a corporate shill

                • -3

@adamshere: Keep your “preordered” lie to yourself as well. One fact for sure is you steal and have no shame. A company is rich is not your business. One thing for sure that no one wants to hire or do a business with anyone like you have lower lower standards. Trying to proof otherwise? sharing your story from here to them and see what they say.

                  • @AussieGargain: Pre order lie, OK here's proof.

                    • -2

@adamshere: Oops, I “preordered” 5 copies of this. Am I more qualified than you to steal it and then show off my steal trophy on internet? Keep your steal yourself, THIEF.

                      https://imgur.com/a/KAnUNVQ

                      • @AussieGargain: Which game should I steal today?

                        https://ibb.co/Jpg8bH1

Just thought I'd show off my trophy collection.

                      • @AussieGargain: I paid for the $180 Collectors Edition months ago. Also got like $200 of Amiibo on preorder.

Nintendo already has my money, I have absolutely no qualms with playing it early, stop being an unpaid shill mate, daddy Nintendo will never notice you or love you back.

In reality, you are just bitter you don't have a CFW switch or a powerful PC to play it early yourself.

Nintendo is getting $350+ from me for this game, and they are getting $0 from you who "cancelled mine pre-ordered on announcement day" because others are playing it earlier than you.

                        • @Vinodra:

                          1. I seriously don’t care what you could afford.
                          2. I also don’t care to proof whether I could afford.
                          3. I care about thieves pushing unwanted and stolen intellectual property to those who don’t want to know.

Again I won’t convince thieves to stop stealing because I wont win this fight. It’s in their blood so I wont waste more time on thieves.

                          • @AussieGargain: I have said literally zero things about the game to you, harden up. If you consider someone who has already paid for the game but is playing it early a "thief", you've clearly drunk the koolaide and are beyond help.

If OP of this comment thread vaguely describing the first 15 hours was enough to get you to cancel your preorder, you clearly weren't very interested in the game to begin with.

Ill continue enjoying the game, while you can continue having a temper tantrum over people playing the game a week earlier than you.

    • But its preorder? How can you be playing it?

      • +1

My friend got it earlier (could be retailer mistake) and he let me play it.

          • +13

@Exorcist: “The Wind Temple is awesome”

Wow what a huge spoiler. Ganondorf is in the game too.

          • -2

@Exorcist: Are you raging over a game? A computer game? You'd be fun at parties.

          • +2

@Exorcist: A reaction like this is pathetic. Don't read the comments about the game you don't want spoiled if you're going to be such a baby about it.

No-one could've guessed people would be talking about the game under the deal for the game

      • +2

A bunch of copies leaked early.

      • +1

leaked online, people are playing with switch emulator

        His friend is Adam

    • This game run great on the Switch, performance wise?

      • +1

Pretty sure it is still 30fps..

        • Still? BotW wasn't 30FPS, it was 25 to 30.

(On Wii U and Switch. On PC using Cemu it runs at 1080p 60 FPS on any gaming PC, even on my i5 from 2011).

  • +2

Can you apply the gift card to the preorder in store, or is that being optimistic? Otherwise I'd have to figure out something from here for 20 bucks I want/need

    • no. you'd probably get a gift code by email after ordering/receiving the game

  • +2

    Its 78 now

  • +24

dont do it. HN preorders always screw up. youll be lucky to get it by the next zelda

    • +34

Also don't give your money to Harvey Norman. They profiteered from tax payers money during covid. Yes, there mates in the liberal party helped it happen but surely a business like HN has some moral obligation. Even if they don't, I do now and will boycott them and you should aswell.

      • That money will soon be forgotten. Give it a couple years then the millions will have never have happened.

      • Can you link me somewhere that talks about this? Didn't know this.

      • Can we just say they (and other companies that stole COVID money) stole the money? Yes the government made it legal for them to steal it, but laws can't change right and wrong.

  • Anything else gaming related worth spending $20 on? :/

Edt: Metroid, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3. That's about it. Everything else is crap or a rip off.

    • I'm intending on grabbing the limited pro controller with it. RRP everywhere that I can see ($109) but it's something.

  • Can you pre-order and click and collect in store?
Or do you have to do a shipping option?

Edit: You can in fact click and collect in
    store.

    • +4

Problem is used switch games aren't cheap.

    • +5

If we all listen to you, where are those "used cheaper" come from.

    • +4

As opposed to any other profit making company?

    • -1

I tend to agree that Nintendo games are over priced. They do run good sales though. Also, other console games are just as, if not more, expensive.

The switch console has been a steady price and could probably reduce in price but demand dictates this. I understand why a company would maintain the price if they are selling as many as ever.

Keen to know why else you have this view on Nintendo?

      • Actually I prefer this where I can send my used copy at the same price as I bought (or a bit more or less) compared to PS games that drop in prices so quickly.

      • +2

Nintendo "sales" like selling Mario Kart 8" in 2023 for $60?

      • They do run good sales though

Not even close. I'm skeptical even someone whose only gaming is on Switch could believe this.

Acclaimed, popular AAA games only 6 to 18 months old have been going on sale at 50% to 90% off (even 100% off on epic, etc) for over a decade now on PC, and for years on others consoles.

Not to mention GamePass, PS+, etc.

It's 2023 and Nintendo are still pricing like it's 1999.

Some of the best games ever are Nintendo games, but we're being overcharged, and it's not by a little bit.

    • If you make such a bold statement, you gotta back it up with facts. Also have to explain how Nintendo is any different to other for-profit corporates.

  • Pre-ordered at JbHiFi but paid using gift cards. If I were to refund the order to preorder through Harvey Norman, where would the refunded gift card balance go towards?

    • Probably they will just issue a new gift card with the preorder value.

    • 100% returned as a new gift card.

  • +26

No one has said it yet? Screw gerry

  • +2

Be nice if Amazon did something like this to match

    • +1

What’s the go with Amazon nowadays? I see they aren’t price matching as much anymore… ang reason?

      • No idea
        Guess that don’t need to?

      • +1

I think they’re consistently the lowest price. They don’t match bonus offers but, just upfront list price. Their price is $74 vs $79 for HN so promotions aside, they’re cheaper.

  • Does anybody's email mention the $20 gift card? My last order of switch sports did but this one doesnt 🤔

    • Yes, mine does in the email

    • Yes, I can see it in the "We'll let you know when your order is ready confirmation" email.
Red text $20 gift card under the game.

      • Weird. Maybe coz i partly paid with a gift card it doesnt count.

  • +3

Gorilla gaming (https://gorillagaming.com.au/products/the-legend-of-zelda-br…) is selling the game alone for $69. If you price match at JB hifi and use discounted gift cards I think this would be the cheapest way to buy the game alone without the extras, and if you can’t think of anything else to buy at Harvey Norman.

    • +1

Never tried pm at JB for pre-order. Is it works? Mighty ape is selling at 69 too. No idea whether JB will pm

    • +2

They are not meant to pm Gorilla Gaming or Mighty Ape as they are based in NZ.

You may be lucky and find staff that would do but I had more no's than yes when trying to PM them.

  • Need someone else to match this, $20 HN gift card is pretty useless it's to pre order another game

  • +2

Including delivery fee it's $2.6 save over my JB pre-order using gift card. Plus JB has a bonus and dayone pickup. Also no need to deal with the $20 voucher in the future. No deal to me.

    • +7

And you dont need to give your money to Harvey norman

      • +8

The Legend of Harvey Norman: Tears of the Gerry.

    • And you get the TOTK coin which can make more than $20 on ebay.

    • +1

Only think that would make me part with my cash at HN would be a genuine going out of business sale. I would at least consider it if the price was decent…

  • +1

Bought a microwave a few weeks back with a $20 bonus gift card, shop clerk let me take $20 off the pricetag instead. Wonder if they'll do the same for the game

  • Because of the bonus the others with pre order guarantees I assume will not price match .
It just shows to shop around especially with codes and gift card offers in play at times.

  • +2

I still have the $20 voucher from Switch Sports, may as well use it to preorder this and continue the gift card train.
