Existing Amazon Prime members who cancel their membership during the Offer Period and re-join Amazon Prime will not be eligible.

    Rejoin Amazon Prime?
    Cancelled Amazon Prime?

Sorry I don't understand these concepts…. One doesn't cancel Amazon Prime.

    • Had free one year Prime membership from AGL. Bought enough toilet paper and paper towels. P.S. Wasn't me who neg you

Plenty of other things to buy on Amazon. The Streaming content as a freebie is nice too.

Regardless, much cheaper than Americans pay too. It's a steal. Easiest subscription to justify imo, alongside a preferred music one too.

        • Yeh but Americans also get Comixology Unlimited too, and I’m sure a few other extras, which justifies why they pay more.

@Psygnosis: Never heard of it. And in a quick look, it's hardly going to appeal to the masses. Amazon in US is life. They pay much more, Amazon knows they can charge more. Australia needs to be warmed up.

@Twix Sorry my post was confusing. I've updated it. Deal is for anyone not currently with Prime, not just rejoining.

  • Wasn't this free before

    these were $10 last year

  • @michael9865 @lhou021 Wow, free or $10. Didn't see this last year. $19 is a rip off then

    • $19 still ok compared to normal price. But yeah saw it free, pretty sure came with prime subscription but can't remember

    • +1

it is still a deal, just not the cheapest.
      Well, blame inflation lol

  • Yes, they've been cheaper. Yes, I bought 3 of them at various points for ten bucks. Yes, I got a $10 voucher with each one and they ended up paying for themselves.

    Buuuuut

You can't get those deals now, and for 19 bucks they're still a hella cool speaker. Great little shower companions, walk in, yell at it to play some tunes, good shit. Just don't set it's word to be "computer", we have an Alexa in the kitchen, an Echo in the bedroom, a Computer in the bathroom, and then the 2 down in the kiddos end, so we pick different names so we're not setting them off accidentally, and "Computer" is the one it's least responsive to, even with the shower on, it would always hear Alexa, to the point we had to change it bc the kitchen would hear it and start playing there, but it's not very good at Computer, very often doesn't respond, leading to me yelling over songs to stop or skip.

But otherwise, thing is dope, well worth it. And if you have one or more of the Alexa machines (or just download the app) you can use it to announce shit in other rooms, or tell the other people in your house to get (profanity), either way, it's quite fun. Decent quality speaker too for the price, good volume.

    • You were lucky.

$10 in Aug/Sep 2021: Echo Dot 3rd Gen for $10 when you join Amazon Prime

      https://www.amazon.com.au/b?ie=UTF8&node=8190270051

      • Nah nah nah, much more recent than that. I bought my first Echo Show somewhere around late '21 I believe, I didn't get any Dots until mid 2022 at the earliest. To the point that I got one for the kiddo as an xmas prezzie sometime late in the year. Ideally they bring it back again. At the moment the house has 3 dots and 3 shows. So good for announcements and goofing around, love the things.

Edit: Yeah, here, November last year must have been when I got the last one https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735366

        • That was only 2 months ago. I wonder if it will reduce to $10 later

          • @trixieb: it was $10 when it was on sale for $19 just 2 months ago

      'New to Prime Customer'

      Try reading the post.

  • T&Cs: New to Prime Customer - This includes former Amazon Prime free trial members who cancelled their free trial before the Offer Period.

Amazon live chat confirmed that this offer is available to ex-Prime customers who rejoin. Best to contact Amazon if the $19 offer doesn't show up.

    • Amazon chat just confirmed to me that it is not available to ex-Prime customers who rejoin. My membership was not active since September 2022 and they said it was not eligible for this offer.

  • I contacted amazon support and was not eligible for the deal because i joined prime 3 days too early :(

  • Amazon chat just confirmed that this offer is not available to 'new' prime customers who have had membership previously.

They said the wording in the terms and conditions is incorrect and that they would get it changed.

" A “New to Prime Customer” for the purposes of this Offer, means a customer who does not currently have an active Amazon Prime Australia membership (trial or paid membership). This includes former Amazon Prime free trial members who cancelled their free trial before the Offer Period. "

The 'does not currently have an active Amazon Prime Australia membership' wording is misleading because it implies that if you have an inactive membership, even for the past 6 months as I did, you would be considered a 'New to Prime Customer'.

It's probably just a gimmick designed to get people to rejoin, because it isn't made clear to you until after you have signed up again.
