Laguiole Cutlery, Worth It? Thoughts and Feedback?

I’ve always liked the look of these but never pulled the trigger on buying any.

My rubber coated villeroy and boch are going to shit either the coating tearing, so it may be time to upgrade.

Only crap thing is the sets come default with steak knives when butter knives would be far better.

  • There’s different grades of these knives and they can get very expensive.

I have the beige equivalent of these (which are cheap French ones) and I really like them:

  • It's just dinner knives and a matter of taste. I prefer all stainless sets. Have used both cheap and fancy laguiole and not into either of them. Too showy.

But people might think you’re a peasant if you don’t have showy cutlery…

At least they’ll know you didn’t get them at Aldi.

        • Laguiole were on sale at Aldi in December.

      • “WITH NOSE IN THE AIR”.

The knockoff ones die in the dishwasher after a couple of years. We had the pretty colours and I liked the look, but not enough to hand wash!

    • Yeah i had a mix of real and fake kogan ones. The kogan ones fell apart pretty quick and i eventually relegated to kids lunches knowing they eventually not come back.

  • A single genuine laguiole knife will set you back the cost of a 16 or 24 piece set that are on special here in Australia. Having said that if you do insist on buying a set, go for the stainless versions & read the packaging carefully before purchasing. If you want to save some money, have a look at marketplace, or gumtree for new sets that people don't want.
