Johnnie Walker Blue Label - $159 for 700ml - 1st Choice Liquor

170

I am really suprised this has not already been posted - saw it last week but was away from the computer at the time and almost forgot about it.
For all you lovers of overpriced blended scotch (my personal view) - this is a reasonable price for it
(not as good as this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54934 - but still better)

Dan Murphy's has it listed on boozle for 5 cents less (great price beat dan's!) - dont know how long that will last though.. so I have listed this one as there is more certainty.

EDIT - as pointed out by Chivalry - it could be you can get 750ml at dans for same price!!

(I am not sure if free shipping with paypal through dan's is still on… will have to look into that one)

I cant say I have interest in buying this … have not even started to get stuck into this one…

Happy drinking

I'd rather buy from Dan Murphy's, cheaper and get points too.

you sir deserve an ozbargain medal!
5 cents cheaper at Dans on something that costs 159 - and it's called "cheaper" - that's what I call a true ozbargainer! - I salute you. :P

(I know you gave another reason - but I could not help myself)
I listed this as a 1st choice deal just because the dan's price is not advertised and not clear how long it will go for - but mentioned it in the post in case it helped anyone.

are you actually going to buy this scotch? I am always intrigued to know if people buy this b/c of the name, or because they have tried others and still come back to this…

i reckon Dan will have it for as long as the 1st choice sale (which is to 15/8), so they dont have to beat their competitors price, but having said that 1st choice will also beat Dan Murphys price, so you would probably end up paying less at 1st choice.

Personally for me, Dan Murphy is alot closer to me.

On another note, I just saw this place (its in sydney) - http://www.oakbarrel.com.au/store/Whisky/Scotland.html - they have Ardbeg Corryvreckan and Uigeadail… cheaper than Sydney Airport Duty free (http://www.syddutyfree.com/category/liquor/whiskey/1/brand)

thanks for the tip on that sydney shop
some of their prices are not quite on the mark - but their range is nice..
few good prices amongst them - will keep them in mind for future buys.

I assume you are familiar with Nicks wine merchants in melbourne…

        • sure thing, i know where to go for Laphroaigs =D

      • No, I don't drink alcohol, and too expensive a present to give to anyone other than my dad.

Dan Murphy has the 700ml and 750ml bottles at the same price ($158.95)…hmmm which one will i get?

    750ml - http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_902548/johnnie-walker-bl…
    700 ml - http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_93472/johnnie-walker-blu…

    • very good sir.

The firewall at work wont let me onto dan's website to have a proper look
I'll add that detail to the post

  • Hardly any 750ml stock at Dan's… plenty of 700ml

  • The 750ml is a discontinued line, I believe.

Agree with the OP, definitely better off with the Laphroaig. But this is a great price if Johnny Blue is what you want.

  • OP correct, no idea why anyone who had tried this would ever buy another bottle of it. Please don't buy it for father's day, there is much better out there for cheaper.
