I wondered how long the "fruity beer" trend would last before it wobbled & failed. Just the latest in a flurry of recent trends (wheat beer anyone?) that seemed to coalesce after the peak of "hazy" beers. This one was really taking the piss though…$60 for 16x300ml (not even euro size) cans of 4.2%, did they seriously expect that to sell in great numbers?

Wheat beer is 6000 years old it's not a recent trend lol

No shit Sherlock but the heavy promotion of it started up a little while back, a crop of new products suddenly emerged.

  • $20 for 16, $6 for 4, $5.50 for 1.
Now that's what I call volume discounts!

Might be worth looking at some of the reviews: https://untappd.com/b/carlton-and-united-breweries-empire-fr…

Including "Like a mango took a watery diarrhoea dump in an orange peel."

  • I liked this one when I got a free can from BWS. Definitely worth a shot for you.

  • bws were giving away 4 packs at my local if you spent over $40. one of the worst drinks I've ever tasted, but I still drank them.

Had a free one too. Nothing like beer, more of a seltzer. I dunno why they call it beer at all. Don't buy this thinking you are getting a hoppy craft beer because that's not what it is.

I was talking to an operator at Dan's about this fruity beer trend.
They reckon that the makers call this beer because otherwise it'd be subject to the RTD tax.

  • None for SA click and collect

  • Thanks Op. ordered for $20 in ACT.

  • Great deal. Cashrewards had 15% cashback yesterday as well. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/756680

Mine was just posted and the cashback has already tracked. Thanks OP.
