Genuine ALDI Mobile Users Review?

So i am currently on Boost Mobile, but am looking at other options i headed over to ProductReview.com.au and saw ALDI Mobile, Woolworths, Coles, etc all had bad reviews.

The fact is if you have an issue you go complaining however are there any genuinely happy ALDI customers here? I used GOMO for a while before the Optus data breach that made me go to Boost.

Want i'm asking here are there any genuine users here using Aldi Mobile that have had great coverage and no issues?

I use Telstra, but I popped my parents onto ALDI mobile. No complaints from them. Just need to make sure they understand what they’re recharging if they attempt to do it themselves.

  • Boost uses full Telstra, why would you jump from there?

Aldi had family plan which is $45 per month for 2 mobiles with 44GB per month with unlimited rollover and currently they have an additional 50GB data per month for 6 Months that's an additonal 300GB of data on top of 528GB you would get in a year. Thats 828GB per year for two people, thats $270 per person so beats Boost's $300 recharge by a mile, i know i wont use it all but i dont want to be in a situation where i run out data then i end up adding on data. also Aldi is monthly so if its crap i can just change

Almost full service now, capped download compare to Telstra.

Wife and parents have been using it for 5+ years without issues.

Never any need to contact Aldi.

Coverage is fine in rural areas where my parents live.

My sister has used Aldi mobile for years with her iPhones. She never ever mentioned reception issues, or any issue to be honest. No idea how much data she uses, just that she says it’s cheap. She travels all around the east coast, Melbourne to Nth Qld.

    • this is really helpful, im based in brisbane and we go hiking / bush walking alot from the coverage map seems like the telstra wholesale has most of it covered.

      • I am with Telstra and there was a few country towns and areas between Lithgow and Gold Coast where Telstra was terrible, locals said they used Optus.
So to be honest who knows… try Aldi. Most of my sisters use would be Northern NSW and Noosa but she travels around from Melb up.

      • I have been with ALDI for about 3-4 years, I also live in Brisbane. ALDI has way better coverage in the CBD and most suburbs than Optus. I haven't had any issues in my time with them. The speed difference between Boost and ALDI is negligible, ALDI is a fair amount cheaper. The cheaper plans, more data for your money it is a no brainer to get ALDI as long as you don't want 5G.

5G is being limited to 150mbps so thats one of my reasons for moving not much point 100mbps is fine.

I've been with Aldi mobile for 3-4 years …very happy. I had patchy coverage on the Optus network prior, but never had any issues with Aldi. Have driven Gold Coast to Melbourne a number of times with no issues. The app is good to use…..just read the fine print. The data roll over is one of the better ones

I had Aldi mobile for myself and my SO, for several years, no problems. Switched to Boost for the $150/year deal. But kept Aldi on my old/backup phone, on a minimal recharge.

  • are there any genuinely happy ALDI customers here?

It works fine unless you move a lot through regional areas.

I’m on the 6 sim family plan, for the price I’m paying it’s good. Data speed is decent but there are areas where the speed is bad even though reception is good.

Been on Aldi family plan for a couple of years

    Works perfectly

    No issues

    Good value I think. 4 users. $80/m. 88Gb/m.

If the m stands for month, then yes, it's AUD80 for each month for the 4 Sim ALDI family plan

        • it's AUD80 for each month

          Not according to their website.

          • @jv: You've got me stumped jv.

Are you saying that 30 days isn't a month?

            • @oscargamer: 30 x 12 only gets you 360 days, which is not 12 months…

              • @jv: I work on lunar synodic months which last approximately 29.53 days.

                I round that up.

ALDI and me are similar in that regard

                • @oscargamer:

                  which last approximately 29.53 days.

you're still getting ripped off since other plans average 30.43 days.

                  • @jv: I can live with that…..

                    • @oscargamer: I can't, so I always compare plans using a daily or yearly rate.

  • To be honest mostly only the people who want to complain or give negative feedback go to product review. The people who like an item or company dont normally go to productreview.com.au.

Anyway My personal advice is stick to sim slutting you save so much. You hardly pay anything for the sim in the year. May be like <$10 for the whole year in easily achievable.

My wife and I are on ALDI. I easily drive 500km+ a week, mostly metro, plus family in the hills where normally only Telstra has coverage. Neither of us have ever noticed a dead spot.

  • Been using Aldi mobile since 2015 pay as you go no issues although I don't leave Sydney so can't comment on coverage.

  • Been on Aldi mobile (12m prepaid deal) for about 8 months now and been mostly happy with it. Located in suburban Melbourne.
Great value for a low-intensity mobile user like me, as I don't need much data and mostly use it for work calls.

My only gripe is that there doesn't seem to be an option for international roaming.
And with most banking and other apps/services requiring 2FA via SMS, it was a bit annoying when i went overseas for travel last year.

My only gripe is that there doesn't seem to be an option for international roaming.

Aldi Mobile offers international roaming and is actually very reasonably priced compared to the other Telstra MVNOs. https://m3.aldimobile.com.au/docs/international_roaming_rate…. You need to have PAYG credit though to work.

      • Thank you.
That makes sense, as I am on the 1 year prepaid deal and have no ongoing credit balance. Handy to know for next time.

Many thanks all, im a technical guy and do know the backend of mobile providers quite well in regards to routing and internet speeds but all the research cannot prove real world performance. I know TPG, Kogan, all use Vodafone which is a vocus backbone which has horrible routing speeds.

  • I'm not a user but I sign up Aldi mobile for mother in law. She is pretty quick to complain about things but I don't hear she complained about Aldi mobile thus it should be good.

  • Is WiFi Calling available yet through ALDI?

It was supposed to be rolled out a month ago, but their website doesn't say it's done…

    • Yes i can confirm Wifi Calling is now enabled

    • Why do you need wifi calling?

      • Because of poor indoor reception.

  • I moved from Aldi to boost a couple of years ago.

In short, never had reception troubles but speed was terrible in my area. My wife had the same trouble.

My suspicion was there were lots of Aldi users around our area and they’d subsequently oversold/under provisioned.

Never had any slow downs or data drop outs with boost

  • It's been fine. We recently moved onto the $80/month family plan away from individual plans.
Reception isn't great in some rural places (Wollondilly).

    • We recently moved onto the $80/month family plan

They don't have one that is monthly.

Genuine happy Aldi Mobile customer. Not sure of coverage in country towns like where you are.

  • +1

Been with ALDI Mobile since 2013, a decade with them, multiple services, no issues at all whatsoever. VIC metro, VIC regional, QLD metro, NSW metro, no coverage issues. Super economical. International roaming worked flawlessly on multiple occasions. Data speeds exceed expectations and keeps rolling over every month. International calling included for multiple countries. Go for it :)

  • Aldi is the best. Switched over from boost years ago. Never had issues in remote country towns.
