I did a tour last month from Airlie Beach and we stopped at daydream island on the way back and swam in the pool and had some morning tea…

Don't book a holiday to that resort. You will be disappointed

  • Agreed.

It’s a run down old dump. We went there about 6 years ago on a day tour when we were staying on Hamilton island.

I have no doubt it was a nice place to visit once upon a time, but the fact is, it’s fairly run down these days. Spend your money elsewhere.

    • Same. Checked my photos, 24/5/2013. The resort was empty!
Hamilton Island was well enjoyed ($300/night but flights were $59).

    • The island was fully refurbished in 2018/19.

  • Yep definitely not worth spending time there. Don't get me wrong, it's the Whitsundays, so it's not bad, but there's definitely nicer places to be.

Went with my wife 6 months ago and it was only at 30% capacity and felt pretty odd. Food was expensive and your options are very limited.

Too bad Lindeman island isnt still a thing

What are some of the other nicer places? I'm born and raised in Brissie but haven't gone further norther than Fraser, same goes with most of my friends. I'd like to venture out to see some of the scenic north QLD beaches this year.

We stayed at Martinique Resort in Airlie Beach. Absolutely stunning, the pictures don't do it justice. Plus Woolworths down the (admittedly steep) hill and a full kitchen in the apartment so saved a tones on meals too. Just eating out when we wanted to vs having to each out for every meal

        Airlie for sure!!

Port Douglas is nice, as well as Cape tribulation and the Daintree rainforest. Lots of untouched beaches up that way.

Airlie beach is worth a visit too. Had a lot of good times up that way many moons ago.

I've never understood this return for free deals. Can't see any return for free dates and it's a pain to manually select each dates try to search for it.

    • If you select the eligible destination, then click on dates, it actually specifies the Return for Free dates. I find that helpful

    Jetstar Return for Free

    "after 3 or 4 cancellations"

    FTFY

  • Everything seems very expensive. Can't find any real deals.

I spot some cheap deals for Melbourne to Osaka. If you can fly mid week, the rate could be as low as:

    • $869pp for Flight + 7 nights in Osaka
    • $689pp for Flight + 4 nights in Osaka

(Note the rates are before baggage)

The dates are around late Aug, early Sep, and early Nov)

Also, a tip that the return for free deals apply to all hotel in the eligible destination, for example in Osaka, only "noku Osaka" appears eligible but if you search in a different way, other hotels in Osaka will appear, and some turns out cheaper.

This applies to other destination too
