Never again. Flown CebuPacific more times than I can recall..After they decided Melbourne route wasn't happening almost a year after we purchased our tickets they left us high and dry (and that was only the beginning).

    • -6

Every airfare deals always seem to attract the angry customers

    • +2

This. Back when I was still in the Philippines Cebu Pacific was my go to but after what they did to all the people who purchased for the MNL > MEL flights and vice versa they are not my to-go airlines for flying back home. I'd rather take Singapore Airlines and have a layover at Singapore rather than use Cebu Pacific and risk my flight being cancelled.

    • +4

High and dry sounds better than low and wet.

      • +8

i dunno man, it is valentines day afterall

    • +1

I've got a return trip to MNL in Sep and some domestic flights within Phils and they have changed the times of 3 of my flights so far. Doesn't look promising. Hope it doesn't get completely cancelled cos I also booked some domestic Jetstar flights to get to the departing airport from my place

Any deals with Qantas over that same period?

    • +1

No worries Sir.. I am going to open Qantas.com right now and find out for you. I will get back to you very soon. I will now put you on a quick hold if that’s alright with you.

      • I'm not sure if the rep has partnered deals with them. I don't underatand what the harm in asking was

  • Any vibes about deals for Oct-Nov?

    • +3

      Its their rainy/ monsoon season.

      • +1

Does travel insurance normally cover that kind of stuff i.e. you're stuck in a country for a couple more weeks because of a Typhoon?

        • +2

The planes would still fly. At most a day delay if its a really bad storm and the airlines pays compensation. Its more like what you plan to do in Philippines when its pouring day and night.

Be careful to check where the MEL-MNL flight stops , and for How long!!!

The prices looked good , then I realised most of the Melbourne to Manila trip includes a very long stop in the middle -

a 13 HOUR 40 minute layover in Sydney,
    OR
    14 hours in KL
    OR
    18 hours in (BRUNEI)

One of them was even a Stopover in KL AND Singapore!

edit - even though the website showed it all as CEBU Air, when I click to book, both Legs of MEL -MNL are actually AirAsia / AirAsiaX

  • How do you book the return flight? When i click on it with the return dates, it only shows one way departing but won't let me book a return flight. What a shit website, they don't make it easy

    • Which one did you click on? It should just show you the return ticket as per the link you clicked. Eg https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/MEL0507MNL180…

      • Look at this: https://bookings.beatthatflight.com.au/flights/MEL2104MNL010…
Why does it only show MEL-MNL when i have return dates? How do I book the return leg on May 1st? The top box shows the return date but down below ALL the flights shown are departure only

        • Tried it, looks ok to me?
          https://imgur.com/a/6w1jBmM

That first $509 one - you'll note it's leaving at 00:25 on 21st April, and below that, returning at 18:00 on May 1st?

          • @beatthatflight:

            1. why does yours show $509 for May 1 and mine shows $159 for the same date: https://i.imgur.com/i851luL.png
            2. your screenshot only shows flights for MEL to MNL. I want to book the RETURN leg MNL to MEL. How do I book the RETURN flight? The top box shows the return date but down below ALL the flights shown are departure only
            • @x x: 1) Yours is one way ($159) and mine is return ($509).
              2) No, my screenshot definitely shows flights from MEL to MNL and back. As I said - "you'll note it's leaving at 00:25 on 21st April, and below that, RETURNING at 18:00 on May 1st".

Note how my screenshot shows two flights next to the $509, as it's a return flight, while yours is showing $159 for a one way flight.

I've made another screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/7hGVb1M - you can see it has two flights. MEL -> MNL, and MNL-> MEL. Red is outgoing and Blue is incoming.

Have you tried a different phone/desktop/browser? Same link? I've tried it on 5 browsers on 2 devices and it works fine, and given I can see bookings coming in it's working for others too.

              • @beatthatflight: ok thanks i'll have a look when i got more time.. seriously your website needs an overhaul, it's very confusing and hard to navigate and puts me off

                • @x x: Cheers - fairly similar design patterns to other booking sites, but appreciate the feedback!

Philippines from MEL $159 O/W, $281 Return, from SYD $169 O/W, $302 Return on Cebu Pacific [Apr to July] @ Beat That Flight

For a second my brain try to digest why OfficeWorks is there

    • Yeah, character limit in titles is a pain :P

  • Any good Philippines tours? Sending a fam member so want it all prearranged.

    • -3

I understand Phillipines specialises in prearranged

  • No Perth!

    • That airline only flies to MEL & SYD :/

    • Philippines Airlines will be flying direct flight 3 x a week starting on the 27th of March in Perth. I will be catching these flight.

      • +2

        username checks out!

  • +1

This airline has so many bad reviews. Is it worth it ?

    • Hell yea! $500 bucks extra booze money

    • It is your typical budget air carrier something comparable to Jetstar and slightly better than an Air Asia. The check-in process will be more chaotic (I'm not sure why but they always have ridiculously long lines). The plane itself is fine but there won't be any entertainment on the flight (not hard to bring your own iPad or you know just sleep). In saying that last time I flew Philippine Airlines in 2022 they weighed everyone's carry on luggage to the last kg and saw them fining some poor old ladies for being over for a couple hundred bucks. I'd say definitely not worth the extra $$$'s for PAL which honestly feels like a budget airline anyway!

      • Since they dont have in flight entertainment you can carry a laptop bag with all your electronic accessories on top of your 7kg cabin bag. I basically travel checkin luggage free and skip that massive luggage checkin line at the airport.

    • My work had to send us over to Manila and had to choose between Qantas/Jetstar and Cebu.
The travel agent was like '(profanity) no, you are not flying Cebu. I'd lose you as a client'.

  • +1

    no Bris :-(

  • Thank you so much! What a great deal!!!

  • I really hate MNL airport - corrupt border officials at customs and during transit trying to scam you out of crap. Takes a flash of an APEC card to scare them away but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Airline is meh, if you are moderately sized you are in for a treat (really really small seats (3-3-3)) in comparison to the old Jetstar A330-200s being 2-4-2) Everything is extra - bag was 1.9kgs above the limit and was quoted $294 at MNL airport from MNL-CEB.

    TLDR; Dont bother :-)

    • Are you allowed to record video on your phone at the airport? That should be a deterrent for any corrupt official.

      • Generally not - you can be arrested for it when filming in a highly controlled zone such as immigration, customs ect sadly

      • Phones generally aren't allowed to be used in security areas at most airports.
