Steam Deck RMA (resolved)

Hi all, I decided to roll the dice on a steam deck from expansys.com and ended up with a dud. The right thumbstick is permanently set to down despite physically being in the neutral position. Long story short, a 3rd party replacement joystick and calibration have not resolved the issue and it looks like Expansys will not handle the RMA process (my emails have gone unanswered for weeks).

So my next step, barring learning how to use the track pad, is to try and ship the steam deck to the US (or any valid country) to handle the RMA process and I'm looking for advice. Has anyone done something similar, or know of any shipping forwarding company that would handle the back and forth?

Edit: I should note that steam support basically said the same thing, if I can get it to a supported countries address, they will handle the RMA

    • That's not a bad idea, I may end up using that as a last resort

You can try this with a shipping forwarder. iFixit is an official partner of Steam so….

    • Thank you, that's the exact guide I followed for the 3rd party joystick but unfortunately it didn't resolve my issue

  • Shipping back to the US would be so expensive.

I would just cut my losses and sell as is on eBay or Facebook. Certainly some people would be able to fix it themselves. You'll certainly get hundreds of dollars for it.

I was going to get it from expansys as well but for an extra $50 I got it from an eBay store in Australia instead.

  • Feel bad for you op. I wonder if anyone with a kogan direct (not kogan third party) supplied deck has had issues yet.

  • Bad luck OP. This is the exact fear that made me hold off on buying one when the deals popped up.

  • try contact cleaner.

  • Could just buy a replacement right thumb stick?

    • Yeah I tried replacing with a 3rd party stick but unfortunately it still the same issue. Ifixit also only ships to the US at the moment.

  • Merged from Steam deck RMA resolved

Hi all, recently I posted about an issue I had with my steam deck from Expansys where one of the thumbsticks was broken. I just wanted to follow up that after a couple of weeks Expansys actually got back to me and offered to fulfill the RMA process. A few weeks after that and I finally have a fully functional steam deck (and I love it). So if you're worried that you might get a lemon, like I was, I can vouch for Expansys resolving legitimate RMA issues.
